It’s time to choose sides… On the surface, Sorry-in-the-Vale is a sleepy English town. But Kami Glass knows the truth. Sorry-in-the-Vale is full of magic. In the old days, the Lynburn family ruled with fear, terrifying the people into submission in order to kill for blood and power. Now the Lynburns are back, and Rob Lynburn is gathering sorcerers so that the town can return to the old ways.

But Rob and his followers aren’t the only sorcerers in town. A decision must be made: pay the blood sacrifice, or fight. For Kami, this means more than just choosing between good and evil. With her link to Jared Lynburn severed, she’s now free to love anyone she chooses. But who should that be?

My Opinion

I absolutely loved Unspoken, a true gem of a book. Which is why I was so terribly looking forward to Untold. Terribly why you must ask? Well Untold is the sophomore book in a series aka the filler book. Also known as the one that does not always deliver. Will Sarah Rees Brennan’s book Untold circume to the sophomore curse? Or will it stand on it’s own, head held high?

The book starts off with a high note- an army of scarecrow attacking Kami and Angela. Kami and Angela of course using snark and cunning intellect to beat the scarecrows back. Jared and Ash do help (okay mainly Jared). Kami and Angela’s relationship still best friends even after what happened in Unspoken. Supportive and always each other’s side-kick, although there is a little bit of doubt between these two. Doubt caused by the secrets they kept- and let out. But theirs is a friendship that will overcome the pesky naysayers.

Jared and Kami on the other hands are on the outs. Both avoiding the other, yet longing for each other. Jared not knowing what to do is acting like a jerk. Kami unsure of herself and her feelings for Jared is just lonely. Ash is an added complication, that I do begin to stop hating. His is a lonely existence, with all of his friends hating him due to his role in being evil.

Now the townspeople are the ones that I am hating on. Hello there is a guy that wants you to pay a freaking blood sacrifice in order to stop him from pouring down hellfire and damnation onto your town. And you are willingly going to do it? You are not going to fight? You are not even going to talk about fighting? Did something hit you over your head? Hello… if you only had a brain… And how often are you going to pay this sacrifice yearly? Bi-yearly? Every decade? I mean what is one or two dead people in the grand scheme of things.

Thankfully Lillian knows that she has to fight her husband and sister. Unfortunately, she forgets what it is like to be teenager and tries to do it without the help of others. BIG MISTAKE! A big mistake that leads to a cliff-hanger of an ending. One that I did not see coming.

Sarah Rees Breanna really is trying to kill her readers. Why oh why? Please let him stay safe, Kami do what it is that you do best- believe in him. And blast it where are the other sorcerers that can help kill Rob? I mean seriously? Only the humans will stand up to him?

My Rating 5 out of 5 stars

Favorite Quote “You can’t be mean to him all the time. I want to be mean to him sometimes. We can switch days. I doubt we can get along.”

Other People

Holly- beautiful gal at Kami’s school that cons her way into their group.
Angela- Kami’s anti-people best friend.
Ash- Jared’s imperfect cousin, me hates him.
Rusty- Angela's brother, he pretty much rocks of awesomeness

  1. I'm so glad you enjoyed this story! It sounds like a great read! I hate when your really in to a book, and then you get a cliffhanger! Hopefully, you won't have to wait too long for the next installment. Awesome Review Angela :)
