Book Trailer Saturday (32) Forget Tomorrow

Some people believe you can fall in love at first sight. When it comes to books I believe those people. Book trailers are an excellent way to fall in love at first sight. I hope to feature a book trailer here every Saturday to help you fall in love at first sight...

Imagine a world where your destiny has already been decided...by your future self.

It's Callie’s seventeenth birthday and, like everyone else, she's eagerly awaiting her vision―a memory sent back in time to sculpt each citizen into the person they're meant to be. A world-class swimmer. A renowned scientist.

Or in Callie's case, a criminal.

In her vision, she sees herself murdering her gifted younger sister. Before she can process what it means, Callie is arrested and placed in Limbo―a hellish prison for those destined to break the law. With the help of her childhood crush, Logan, a boy she hasn’t spoken to in five years, she escapes.

But on the run from her future, as well as the government, Callie sets in motion a chain of events that she hopes will change her fate. If not, she must figure out how to protect her sister from the biggest threat of all—Callie, herself.

My Opinion

Forget Tomorrow is a thrilling read, that leaves you on the edge of your seat.

All her life Callie has waited for her 17th birthday, Memory Day. On this day, her future self sends her a memory of something….A snapshot of an event or your purpose in life. It is up to your future self to determine what you are sent. Most people are sent happy memories, something about their future job or family. Very few are sent horrible memories, memories of something that they did later on in the future. Those people automatically go to jail, the memory serving as the trail and jury. Callie is so excited, she can hardly wait for the peace that is supposed to fall upon her after receiving her memory. She is not met with peace though, Callie sees herself killing her little sister. She tries to run, but the caught. From there her life and her world is literally turned upside down. Callie’s only concern is making sure that memory does not come true. Logan rescues her from Limbo and they escape to find a safe haven called Harmony. A sanctuary that caters to saving those who are trying to avoid their memories, avoid fate. Callie wants to protect her sister, but the real question is who poses the most danger to her- the government, who now has her or Callie.

Callie is a resilient young lady. She knows that the cards are stacked against her yet she is determined to help her sister. This quality is what I love the most about her. She never once whines or complains about her lot in life. Instead she focuses on saving her sister one step at a time. Love motivates her, empowers her. Logan assists her but does not “save” her. Of course, he does rescue her from prison, but still he takes the backseat to her story. Logan for the most part seems to be a strong confident you adult. Yet, his insecurities shines through in regards to two areas- Callie and Mickey. He fears letting Mickey down, and knows he has to support Callie. I can totally get on the CalLoship train relationship- how there was a foundation but that it was cracked. When the reasons for the cracks come to light, the healing between them begins. As well as some rather swoony encounters.

Forget Tomorrow is an intriguing game of cat and mouse, several in fact. The government is after Callie, Callie is after her sister, Logan is after Callie. It’s a race against time without anyone knowing when the timer will run out. The ending…hmm.. what does it mean? Will this be a trilogy? Maybe? Hopefully?

My Rating 4 out of 5 stars

Waiting on Wednesday (42) Embraced

Hey y'all, thanks so much for stopping by my WoW!

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly meme, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine which spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

A new adult romance from Entangled's Embrace imprint...

To gain a chance at heaven, they'll need to embrace hell…

Descended from Cain, the world's first murderer, Jax Flynn is destined to spend his life making others suffer. To shield the world from horrific chaos, he was forced to sacrifice the one and only thing he loved. Samantha Merrick.

Sam is special. She doesn't know how--or why--and she hasn't had any luck finding out. But there's a bright side to her life. She finally has Jax back. Sort of. They're living life on a strict look but don't touch policy, but with the explosive chemistry between them, keeping their hands to themselves is getting harder every day.

Unfortunately, keeping their libidos in check isn't Jax and Sam's biggest problem. When an enemy from the past resurfaces with an ultimatum--complete a simple task or Sam dies--they're backed into a corner. The goal? Kill a demon called Malphi. The problem? Jax's demon, Azirak, has no intention of letting that happen…

Why am I waiting?

Have you reading Ruined? If not, you need to. Then you wouldn’t be asking this silly question….

"Our entire socioeconomic system is built around future memories coming true, so of course she has to say that. It won't be easy, since all of Fate is working against you. It will take an enormous amount of willpower and strength, which most people don't have."

The first tease is done by Chairwoman Dresden to Callie and all of the other children waiting to get their memories. The second is just a guy...the guy...Logan. No one believes in Callie as much as he does.

Review: The Vampire’s Mail Order Bride

Author Kristen Painter
Format e-book
Print Length 370 pages
Publisher Self
Published June 1, 2015

Welcome to Nocturne Falls, the town where Halloween is celebrated 365 days a year. The tourists think it's all a show: the vampires, the werewolves, the witches, the occasional gargoyle flying through the sky. But the supernaturals populating the town know better. Living in Nocturne Falls means being yourself. Fangs and all.

After seeing her maybe-mobster boss murder a guy, Delaney James assumes a new identity and pretends to be a mail order bride. What she doesn't know is her groom to be is a 400-year-old vampire.

Hugh Ellingham has only agreed to the set up to make his overbearing grandmother happy. His past means love is no longer an option. Except he never counted on Delaney and falling in love for real.
Too bad both of them are keeping some mighty big secrets...

My Opinion

A town that is full of tricks and treats 365 days a year? A town that embraces the paranormal with just a touch of sass? A town where a gal on the run from a mob boss can hide? Where can I buy a ticket? Anyone want to ride the train, plane or automobile with me?

Delaney saw something she should not have, and now she and her cat are on the run. She accidently steps into a matching making business while avoiding capture. This gives her an idea, pretend to be a different person and hid. I mean there are goons with guns after her. Hugh does not know that his granny signed him up for a match making service. Imagine his surprise when he does find out.

Normally, I am all about paranormal books. There was something missing in this one. Oh yeah… chemistry between the two main leads. I just didn’t feel it. They seemed like to separate people trying to like each other, which is awkward since they both claim to not be looking for something permanent.

There were two reasons I kept reading: The first reason is Delaney is quite entertaining. She is not afraid to speak her mind, which is refreshing. This of course could get her into trouble, which ends up being real life LOL moments. She is relatable and makes you want to know her story. The second reason, the secondary characters. There are a lot of them and they are all interesting. I kinda want to read their stories- the sheriff, the gargoyle, the brothers. What happens to them?

The Vampire’s Mail Order Bride is a nice start to a series with a lot of potential. Hopefully, the next book will have more chemistry to it between the two main characters.

My Rating 3 out of 5 stars
