Waiting On Wednesday (8) Blurred

Hey y'all, thanks so much for stopping by my WoW!

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly meme, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine which spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

Cash is haunted by things. Hungry, hollow things. They only leave him alone when Anaya, Heaven’s beautiful reaper, is around. Cash has always been good with girls, but Anaya isn’t like the others. She’s dead. And with his deteriorating health, Cash might soon be as well.

Anaya never breaks the rules, but the night of the fire she recognized part of Cash’s soul—and doomed him to something worse than death. Cash’s soul now resides in an expired body, making him a shadow walker—a rare, coveted being that can walk between worlds. A being creatures of the underworld would do anything to get their hands on.

The lines between life and death are blurring, and Anaya and Cash find themselves falling helplessly over the edge. Trapped in a world where the living don’t belong, can Cash make it out alive?

If you read the first book in the Kissed by Death series than you will understand why I am waiting on this one. Tara Fuller's books are amazing and do not disappoint.

His hand caught my shirt and I closed my eyes. His hand was so close to me. Then it curved inwards and I was pulled closer. His hand touched the base of my neck and spread upward. He cupped my chin and lifted it so I looked in his eyes. He had moved even closer.

Then he whispered as his lips brushed against mine, “I only feel with you.”

Nestled deep in the woods, Shadow Falls is a secret camp where teens with supernatural powers learn to harness their abilities and live in the normal world. But Shadow Falls is facing a problem that could finally expose them to the rest of the world. Humans are showing up dead, and rogue vampires may be to blame.

Camp resident Della Tsang, who’s still coming into her own vampire powers, is assigned to help find those responsible. If she succeeds, maybe she’ll even land her dream job: working for the F.R.U., the enforcers of the supernatural world. But when she sees that her new partner is a hunky shapeshifter, things get complicated. Steve, too gorgeous to be trusted and capable of seeing through her tough-as-nails exterior, knows just how to get under her skin. And only hours into the mission, Della realizes rogue vampires aren’t the only threat she’s facing. If she’s ever going to complete her assignment, she’ll need his help…but learning to trust him will be her hardest challenge yet.

Why I fell so hard?

Have you seen this cover?  It is simply amazing.  Della looking over her hometown.  Della wondering what her family is doing?  Della putting herself in danger.  Steven, the shapeshifter in the air not watching over the town but instead over Della.  With Della having no clue that he is there?  The sun is setting over the town, there is a beautiful haze, just like on a hot June day in Ga.  The purples, blues, yellows and pinks blended together perfectly.

Waiting on Wednesday (7) Obsession

Hey y'all, thanks so much for stopping by my WoW!

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly meme, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine which spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

He’s arrogant, domineering, and... To. Die. For.

Hunter is a ruthless killer. And the Department of Defense has him firmly in their grasp, which usually doesn’t chafe too badly because he gets to kill bad guys. Most of the time he enjoys his job. That is, until he’s saddled with something he’s never had to do before: protect a human from his mortal enemy.

Serena Cross didn’t believe her best friend when she claimed to have seen the son of a powerful senator turn into something... unnatural. Who would? But then she witnesses her friend’s murder at the hands of what can only be an alien, thrusting her into a world that will kill to protect their secret.

Hunter stirs Serena’s temper and her lust despite their differences. Soon he’s doing the unthinkable—breaking the rules he’s lived by, going against the government to keep Serena safe. But are the aliens and the government the biggest threats to Serena’s life…or is it Hunter?

Okay first of all Jennifer L. Armentrout is the author- how can I not be waiting on this one? Secondly, a new adult book in the Lux world, need I say more? Okay, maybe a little more- have you seen the teasers that are floating around?

“Tobais,” I say, “I love you.”

“My name is Tess Little. But everyone calls me Red.”

Once upon a time, a spell went awry, stranding Make Believe characters in the ordinary world. Since then, Tess “Red” Little—a/k/a Little Red Riding Hood—has worked as an Enforcer for the Chicago branch of the Fairytale Management Authority. But, consider yourself warned—she’s not just some waif with a basket of goodies. All grown up and with nothing to lose, a gun and combat boots is more her style. And Red’s new assignment threatens to be short on happily ever afters…

Someone is murdering transplanted Tales in gruesome fashion. The list of fictional characters capable of such grisly acts is short and includes more than one of Red’s old flames. And if that wasn’t bad enough, there’s another complication, in the form of sexy, enigmatic Nate Grimm, the FMA’s lead detective and part-time Reaper. Used to following her own rules and living life on the edge, Red has managed to avoid taking on a partner until now. But Nate’s dark side makes him perfect for a case like this. That is, if she can trust him. Because if there’s one thing Red knows for sure, it’s that believing in the wrong person can have big, bad consequences…

Why I fell so hard?

Growing up when I think of Little Red Riding Hood, she had well a red hood.  I like that this more grown up story of Little Red Riding Hood has her in grown up clothes.  I love that the cover has her in tough girl clothes.  Mostly, I like that the cover gives nothing away about the story.

In Charlotte's fourth semester at Public everything is about to change. Princess Lanca's father, King Daemon, has been murdered, and Lanca will ascend to the vampire throne. But danger lurks around every dark corner and no one knows whom to trust. Can Charlotte and her friends come together to protect the princess against darkness, or will they be too late?

The Darkness Has Come

My Opinion

I adore this series, so of course I stalked the authors website daily for the last month to discover the release date of the next book. As soon as it was live, I was held captivated in Charlotte’s world.

I love the relationship of Charlotte, Sip and Lisabell. They interact with such ease, protecting each other even from themselves. They will face anyone, even Sip’s parents if need be. The faith and support these three have in each other is amazing.

I was not impressed with Keller this time. I was angry with him. How dare he ignore Charlotte in front of his parents? How dare he feel betrayed by her dong what he feel in love with her doing? She has always protected a loved one- why would this time be any different? Stupid boy. This was completely disappointing, as I have come to rely on Keller for his supportive nature- and his faith in Charlotte, even his faith in their relationship. In this edition of Paranormal Public he is lacking in both support and faith.

The ending got a whole WTH (what the heck) from me. Did they seriously just do that? After spending two years protecting her? Seriously, how dumb can the Paranormal Community be? Without Charlotte, the demons will prevail. All I could do was shake my head at their stupidity. Where will the dynamic trio go from here?

Only time will tell, but June needs to hurry up and get here. Keller has a lot of graveling to do in my book. Or else Charlotte needs to move on to the hybrid/darkness mage who says very little. Even with boils on his skin he was more attractive than the fallen hot angel this time around.

My Rating 4 out of 5 stars

Other People

Lanca- Vampire princess about to take the throne.
Lisabelle- darkness mage, everyone but a handful are terrified of her. She kinda rocks my world.
Sip- tiny ware-gal born into a family of males, people underestimates her due to her size. She is a bossy gal though, with some backbone.
Daisy-  hybrid vampire/darkness mage, she is kinda evil.
Dobrov- Daisy’s twin, he helps Charlotte out.

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly meme, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine which spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

With power comes enemies. Lots of them.

Hunter Garrity just wants to be left alone. He’s learned the hard way that his unusual abilities come at a price. And he can’t seem to afford any allies.

He’s up to his neck in hostiles. His grandfather, spoiling for a fight. The Merrick brothers, who think he ratted them out. Calla, the scheming psycho who wants to use him as bait.

Then there’s Kate Sullivan, the new girl at school. She’s not hostile. She’s bold. Funny. Hot. But she’s got an agenda, too.

With supposedly secret powers rippling to the surface everywhere around him, Hunter knows something ugly is about to go down. But finding out what means he’ll have to find someone he can trust…

If you read the first two books in this series then you will understand why I am waiting for the third book. Did Hunter rat them out? How will this get fixed? May 28 is so far away!

I’m Gwen Frost, a second-year warrior-in-training at Mythos Academy, and I have no idea how I’m going to survive the rest of the semester. One day, I’m getting schooled in swordplay by the guy who broke my heart—the drop-dead gorgeous Logan who slays me every time. Then, an invisible archer in the Library of Antiquities decides to use me for target practice. And now, I find out that someone at the academy is really a Reaper bad guy who wants me dead. I’m afraid if I don’t learn how to live by the sword—with Logan’s help—I just might die by the sword...

Why I fell so hard for this cover?

I honestly think it is because the cover matched the title so well. The model here looks like she is literally frozen blowing a kiss. The blue of her eye shadow and the purple tint of her lips. Then you have the gargoyle protecting her and the school. How could I not fall in love with this cover? With so many covers being done of the girl in a dress one can not help be be drawn to the unusualness of this one.

Review: Fusion

Author: Imogen Rose

Format: e-book
Print Length: 322 pages
Publisher: self-published
Published: March 13, 2013

There was just one little difference—my reflection was not separated from me by silver-coated glass. She could have been my twin, except I didn’t have one. No, she was me.

This is the fifth and final book of the Portal Chronicles.

My Opinion

Fusion was more about how Arizona deals with having a doppleganger than action like the previous books. Should she introduce herself? Should she stay away? What does this all mean? Which one is real? Can they both be real? Who loves who? Who ends up with who?

Arizona goes through a lot internally in the book, as does David. Kellan although supportive, cannot help but feel frustrated. He is of course the supportive boyfriend that we have come to know and love. Gertrude, the doggie, has a bigger role in this one as well. Although, I could not help but wonder at times if she was really helping or hindering Arizona’s progress. Arizona at the beginning of this one has reverted back to being a spoiled brat. Which did not endure her to me at all. Thankfully she turned into the sweet gal that I grew to love from the previous books.

Olivia (Arizona’s momma) is having a hard time with understanding her husband’s new role. She is extremely disbelieving of everything that is going around. Which is weird considering that she built a portal to an alternative dimension. I kinda wanted to shake her a few times.

Fusion, while lackluster did wrap up the Portal Chronicles nicely. All un-answered questions were resolved. Fusion, like the cover does bring the storyline full circle. However I could not help but think that is it? I waited this long for that?

My Rating 3 out of 5

Favorite Quote “That girl or boy us your constant, a vault that holds all your fears, dreams, secrets, and desires.”

Review: The Collector

Author: Victoria Scott
Format: e-ARC
Print Length: 352 pages
Publisher: Entangled Teen
Published: March 25, 2013

He makes good girls...bad.

Dante Walker is flippin’ awesome, and he knows it. His good looks, killer charm, and stellar confidence have made him one of hell’s best—a soul collector. His job is simple: weed through humanity and label those round rears with a big red good or bad stamp. Old Saint Nick gets the good guys, and he gets the fun ones. Bag-and-tag.

Sealing souls is nothing personal. Dante’s an equal-opportunity collector and doesn't want it any other way. But he’ll have to adjust, because Boss Man has given him a new assignment:

Collect Charlie Cooper’s soul within ten days.

Dante doesn't know why Boss Man wants Charlie, nor does he care. This assignment means only one thing to him, and that’s a permanent ticket out of hell. But after Dante meets the quirky Nerd Alert chick he’s come to collect, he realizes this assignment will test his abilities as a collector…and uncover emotions deeply buried.

My Opinion

Dante Walker is Hell’s best collector. A collector puts seals on people’s souls- only people who have sinned. Once the soul is covered with seals, it’s off to hell with them. Since Dante is Hell’s best collector Lucifer has demanded that he bring in a special soul. In exchange for eternity up top (Earth) Dante must bring in Charlie’s soul. He doesn’t ask why, instead he just agrees to the deal.

Dante Walker is arrogant, self-absorbed, and let me not forget HOT. Charlie’s attracted to him right away but is also leery of him. She knows she should not be attracting the attention of such a hot guy. He has way to much swag for her. So she knows something is up. But the idea, the possibility is too much for her to ignore. He could honestly like her- it could happen. Charlie on the other hand is adorably naïve when it comes to a lot of stuff. She is trusting, and there is a reason that Lucifer wants her. Thankfully, Heaven is keen on Lucifer’s plans. He wants Charlie too.

The Collector is a coming of age book for both Charlie and Dante. I love Dante’s internal dialogue. Through it the author allows us to see his struggle. And his opinion of Charlie. Dante is not one to see the world with rose color glasses- he tells it like it is regardless of whether or not it will heart someone’s feelings. This book had me laughing out loud a lot. The sheer audacity of some of the stuff that Dante comes up with is shocking. Overall, a fun read that will entertain you into the wee hours of the night.

My Rating 4 stars out of 5 stars

Favorite Quote “And I love her something fierce.”

Other People

Max- another collector and Dante’s best friend
Grams- Charlie’s adoptive grandma
Annabelle- Charlie’s best friend
Blue- Charlie’s other best friend, he is in love with Charlie
Valery- Heaven's collector

Waiting On Wednesday (5) Spartan Frost

Hey y'all, thanks so much for stopping by my WoW!

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly meme, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine which spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

I’m Logan Quinn, the deadliest Spartan warrior at Mythos Academy. At least I was — until the day I almost killed Gwen Frost.

Professor Metis and Nickamedes say that I’m fine, that Loki and the Reapers don’t have a hold on me anymore, but I can’t risk it. I can’t risk hurting Gwen again. So I’m leaving Mythos and going somewhere far, far away.

I know Gwen wonders what’s happening to me, whether I’m safe. I can’t tell her, but this is my story …

With how Crimson Frost ended can you seriously blame me for waiting on this book? What was he thinking? Where did he go? How could he? June 25 hurry up already!

My feelings for David were still there but kept being overpowered by even stronger ones for Kellan. I couldn’t remember when or how those feelings had started, but they were there. He was all I could think about at the moment. His was the face I pictured before I fell asleep and then again just before I opened my eyes to wake up.

Kami Glass loves someone she’s never met . . . a boy she’s talked to in her head ever since she was born. She wasn’t silent about her imaginary friend during her childhood, and is thus a bit of an outsider in her sleepy English town of Sorry-in-the-Vale. Still, Kami hasn’t suffered too much from not fitting in. She has a best friend, runs the school newspaper, and is only occasionally caught talking to herself. Her life is in order, just the way she likes it, despite the voice in her head.

But all that changes when the Lynburns return.

The Lynburn family has owned the spectacular and sinister manor that overlooks Sorry-in-the-Vale for centuries. The mysterious twin sisters who abandoned their ancestral home a generation ago are back, along with their teenage sons, Jared and Ash, one of whom is eerily familiar to Kami. Kami is not one to shy away from the unknown—in fact, she’s determined to find answers for all the questions Sorry-in-the-Vale is suddenly posing. Who is responsible for the bloody deeds in the depths of the woods? What is her own mother hiding? And now that her imaginary friend has become a real boy, does she still love him? Does she hate him? Can she trust him?

Why I fell hard for this cover?

The Gothic feel of this one had me at UNSPOKEN. The font is beautiful and I like to pretend that it shows off the battle between good and evil with the white color representing good.  The two faces on the fence facing each other kinda represent Kami and Jared to me, speaking to each other without seeing each other.  I love how the leaves at the top of the book start off black and but as they fall to the ground they turn white.  I will be totally honest here.  I read this book because of the cover- and I am sad to say that the publishing company is changing this amazing cover to something more mainstream.  Does the change of the cover change the words inside- of course not.  But part of me wonders if I would have read this one without the cover.

Swoon Thursday (18) Hot Blooded

The fabulous girls over at YA Bound created this super HOT meme. Here's how it works.

From the book you’re currently reading, or one you just finished, tell us what made you SWOON. What got your heart pounding, your skin tingling, and your stomach fluttering.

Shout it out on Twitter with the hashtag #YABound, post it here in the comments, or grab the adorable button above and share it on your blog! I want to know & so do the gals at YABound!

Before I could stand and go to Naomi, Rourke grabbed on to my face, pulling me down quickly, his lips hitting mine, hot and frantic.  I didn’t have time to register it until his tongue entered my mouth.

Emotions raced through me, the taste of him overpowering anything else in the room.  I moaned into his lips, gripping his shoulders with both hands, pulling myself closer to him.  He snarled into my mouth.  Our bond rang through me, his body and soul pouring into mine.  My arms and legs began to shake.

This seriously has got to be one of the swooniest kisses I have read in a while.  Anytime a kiss can make you shake it has got to be good.
