Review: The Collector

Print Length: 352 pages

He makes good girls...bad.

Dante Walker is flippin’ awesome, and he knows it. His good looks, killer charm, and stellar confidence have made him one of hell’s best—a soul collector. His job is simple: weed through humanity and label those round rears with a big red good or bad stamp. Old Saint Nick gets the good guys, and he gets the fun ones. Bag-and-tag.

Sealing souls is nothing personal. Dante’s an equal-opportunity collector and doesn't want it any other way. But he’ll have to adjust, because Boss Man has given him a new assignment:

Collect Charlie Cooper’s soul within ten days.

Dante doesn't know why Boss Man wants Charlie, nor does he care. This assignment means only one thing to him, and that’s a permanent ticket out of hell. But after Dante meets the quirky Nerd Alert chick he’s come to collect, he realizes this assignment will test his abilities as a collector…and uncover emotions deeply buried.

My Opinion

Dante Walker is Hell’s best collector. A collector puts seals on people’s souls- only people who have sinned. Once the soul is covered with seals, it’s off to hell with them. Since Dante is Hell’s best collector Lucifer has demanded that he bring in a special soul. In exchange for eternity up top (Earth) Dante must bring in Charlie’s soul. He doesn’t ask why, instead he just agrees to the deal.

Dante Walker is arrogant, self-absorbed, and let me not forget HOT. Charlie’s attracted to him right away but is also leery of him. She knows she should not be attracting the attention of such a hot guy. He has way to much swag for her. So she knows something is up. But the idea, the possibility is too much for her to ignore. He could honestly like her- it could happen. Charlie on the other hand is adorably naïve when it comes to a lot of stuff. She is trusting, and there is a reason that Lucifer wants her. Thankfully, Heaven is keen on Lucifer’s plans. He wants Charlie too.

The Collector is a coming of age book for both Charlie and Dante. I love Dante’s internal dialogue. Through it the author allows us to see his struggle. And his opinion of Charlie. Dante is not one to see the world with rose color glasses- he tells it like it is regardless of whether or not it will heart someone’s feelings. This book had me laughing out loud a lot. The sheer audacity of some of the stuff that Dante comes up with is shocking. Overall, a fun read that will entertain you into the wee hours of the night.

My Rating 4 stars out of 5 stars
