Waiting on Wednesday (44) Dragonshadow

Hey y'all, thanks so much for stopping by my WoW!

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly meme, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine which spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

The author of Heartstone once again infuses elements of Jane Austen’s beloved novel with her own brand of magic in this addictive fantasy that brings back sparring lovers Aliza and Alastair: fierce warriors who match wits, charm, and swords as they fight an epic war to save their world.

The Battle of North Fields is over—or so Aliza Bentaine, now a Daired, fervently wants to believe. But rumors are spreading of an unseen monster ravaging the isolated Castle Selwyn on the northern border of the kingdom. When she and Alastair are summoned from their honeymoon by the mysterious Lord Selwyn, they must travel with their dragon Akarra through the Tekari-infested Old Wilds of Arle to answer his call.

And they are not alone on this treacherous journey. Shadowing the dragonriders is an ancient evil, a harbinger of a dark danger of which the Worm was only a foretaste. And soon Aliza realizes the terrible truth: the real war is only beginning.

Why am I waiting?

I absolutely loved Hearstone and cannot wait to get back into the world of Pride and Prejudice with dragon riders.

Behind him, Tess gasped. The sound sliced right through him. he could imagine what was going on in her head right now, and it made his insides curl up in disgust.

Shade has a lot of explaining to do. I am not so sure he can come back from this. I am not sure Tess should let him come back from this. Why?

"I did it for the children!  But you wouldn't understand protecting someone other than yourself."

He flinched.  Ruthless, implacable Nathaniel Bridgebane flinched like I'd just slapped him across the face.

Tess can be just as ruthless as Nate.  Maybe this time a little too ruthless.  I feel like I am missing something here, which I am but still.  Sometimes I want all the secrets before I read the book.

Review: Listen to Your Heart

Author Kasie West
Format e-book
Print Length 336 pages
Publisher Point
Published May 29, 2018

Talking to other people isn't Kate Bailey's favorite activity. She'd much rather be out on the lake, soaking up the solitude and sunshine. So when her best friend, Alana, convinces Kate to join their high school's podcast, Kate is not expecting to be chosen as the host. Now she'll have to answer calls and give advice on the air? Impossible.

But to Kate's surprise, she turns out to be pretty good at the hosting gig. Then the podcast gets in a call from an anonymous guy, asking for advice about his unnamed crush. Kate is pretty sure that the caller is gorgeous Diego Martinez, and even surer that the girl in question is Alana. Kate is excited for her friend ... until Kate herself starts to develop feelings for Diego. Suddenly, Kate finds that while doling out wisdom to others may be easy, asking for help is tougher than it looks, and following your own advice is even harder.

Kasie West's adorable story of secrets, love, and friendship is sure to win over hearts everywhere.

My Opinion

Kate, an outdoorsy introvert, who would rather be on the lake than anywhere else in the world decides to take a podcast class with her extroverted besite, Alana. Sounds like fun, she could stay behind the scenes and Alana could be a co-host of something. What could go wrong? Umm… the teacher selects Kate to co-host and Alana to be behind the scenes. How did this happen? Giving advice ends up being something that Kate was a natural at, until it came to her own love life.

Kate lives in a small town where her family and another feud over the rights to the lake. Her family owns a sporting gear rental shop on the lake and there is nothing better to her than being out on the water. Her extended family lives all within walking distance of each other which makes for a lot of shenanigans. Alana understands Kate on a level that others don’t. They have been best friends forever and so when Kate starts to develop feelings for Diego, she works hard to hide it because of her loyalty to Alana.

It is always surprising when a character is who is already a strong independent girl, finds out she is even more than she thought. Kate does a lot of growing in this book, and the character development is on point. Her friendship with Alana is her steady rock, her parents supportive and her family is always in her business. Her attraction to Diego is slow growing and adorable.

Diego is pretty much the perfect guy to crush on. He is sweet, attractive and attentive. There is no jerk factor or alpha male in him. Pretty much is like a lot of high school guys who likes a girl that he is unsure likes him back.

There was a moment there though that I did think that Kate and Frank would make a cute couple, it went away after I had a cup of hot tea. So I am thinking that it was a passing thought. The best thing about this book it that Kate’s family is very present and involved in her life.

This is a cute feel good story that leaves you smiling at how everything turns out. So if you are looking for a feel good book that plays like a movie in your head- this is the one for you.

My Rating 4 out of 5 stars

Review: Kill the Queen

Author Jennifer Estep
Format e-book
Print Length 480 pages
Publisher Harper Voyager
Published Oct. 2, 2018

Gladiator meets Game of Thrones: a royal woman becomes a skilled warrior to destroy her murderous cousin, avenge her family, and save her kingdom in this first entry in a dazzling fantasy epic from the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of the Elemental Assassin series—an enthralling tale that combines magic, murder, intrigue, adventure, and a hint of romance.

In a realm where one’s magical power determines one’s worth, Lady Everleigh’s lack of obvious ability relegates her to the shadows of the royal court of Bellona, a kingdom steeped in gladiator tradition. Seventeenth in line for the throne, Evie is nothing more than a ceremonial fixture, overlooked and mostly forgotten.

But dark forces are at work inside the palace. When her cousin Vasilia, the crown princess, assassinates her mother the queen and takes the throne by force, Evie is also attacked, along with the rest of the royal family. Luckily for Evie, her secret immunity to magic helps her escape the massacre.

Forced into hiding to survive, she falls in with a gladiator troupe. Though they use their talents to entertain and amuse the masses, the gladiators are actually highly trained warriors skilled in the art of war, especially Lucas Sullivan, a powerful magier with secrets of his own. Uncertain of her future—or if she even has one—Evie begins training with the troupe until she can decide her next move.

But as the bloodthirsty Vasilia exerts her power, pushing Bellona to the brink of war, Evie’s fate becomes clear: she must become a fearsome gladiator herself . . . and kill the queen.

My Opinion

I have read all of Jennifer Estep’s young adult novels so when it was announced that this one would be published I immediately knew it would be one of my most anticipated read of this year. Kill the Queen is the first book in a trilogy so there is a lot of world building. The world building enhanced the plot instead of taking away from it- at times the reader doesn’t even realize that what is being added is more world building.

As an orphan there was not a lot of options for Evie growing up- she was a royal without a family of her own. The queen took her in, trained her as a royal but used her for mundane ceremonial task. Since she had no powers, she was disregarded by those around her without giving her a second thought. She was a nonthreat. When a major assassination occurs it leaves Evie as the sole survivor of her family line. Thought dead, she hides in plain sight as a gladiator in training. Will she be able to defeat her cousin? Does she even want to?

Evie grows a lot in this book, much due to the events that occur in the first few chapters. Watching her go from a meek child to a strong confident adult was an experience. She was always determined to do her assigned roles to the best of her abilities. Now that is combined with her rage at what her cousin has done as well as what her cousin is doing to her country. I enjoyed her growth and it is always interesting to see a character come full circle. The book is written in three parts which correlate with the growth of the main character.

Secondary characters help to push this book from good to great. The gladiators, mentors, friends, and villains all bring the story together in a beautiful package. Vasilia as a villain is fabulous! She is wicked, evil and unapologetic about it. She takes what she deems is her. She is entitled, spoiled and a brat. She wears the crown well. When the assassination occurred I had goose bumps it was so good. It also kick started the story into full force which was nice. Yes, we know it is coming but dang it was brutal.

Jennifer Estep’s new epic fantasy can be read at a fast neck-breaking pace or a slow savory one. Or you could read it fast the first time and then do a slow re-read. The world building is detailed without being tedious, allowing the reader to imagine all the places mentioned from the castle to the arena. The secondary characters are not in the background, instead they are front and center which is refreshing. The romance a slow burn which is great for those of us who are not always looking for insta-love. Most importantly the plot captivates you to the point where if you have to put the book down, you end up wondering what Evie and the gang are up to. I for one cannot wait until Protect the Prince comes out in July of 2019.

My Rating 5 out of 5 stars

“Because you’re the last one left. The last Winter queen. You have to live,” Cordelia rasped. “You have to survive, no matter what you have to do, no matter who you have to cheat and hurt and kill, no matter what the cost is to your heart and soul. Do you hear me, Everleigh? You have to live. You have to protect Bellona. Promise me you’ll do that.”

Review: The Dragon Kings

Author Kimberly Loth
Format e-book
Print Length 728 pages

Published Jan. 23, 2017

Get all five books this thrilling Amazon Best Selling Series, the Dragon Kings now!

From Obsidian, Book 1:

Seventeen-year-old Aspen is a skydiving, rock climbing, adrenaline junky. All her life, she’s been fascinated by the dragons who roam near her home in Yellowstone Park. Yes, Dragons. Though no human has ever gotten close enough to touch one.

Except Aspen.

While most people avoid the national parks because of the resident dragons, Aspen spends most of her free time in search of the feared and misunderstood creatures. For her, studying the dragons is a way to escape a painful past and avoid getting too close to anyone.

She’d rather track dragons in the wild and through the lens of her camera than talk to real people. But then Aspen meets a hot new guy at school, Sid King. He’s the one person she’s ever met who shares her obsession with all things dragon. But even as she feels strangely drawn to the mysterious boy, she senses he’s hiding his own set of dark and powerful secrets.

When hikers start turning up dead in the park, everyone suspects the formidable predators. Unless Aspen can prove their innocence, every one of her beloved dragons is in danger of eradication.

After Aspen and Sid uncover a sinister plot behind the brutal attacks, Aspen can no longer deny that Sid somehow knows more about the deaths than he should and the secrets they both keep threaten to rip their lives apart forever.

My Opinion

Due to this being a box set, I will be reviewing the first book only.

Aspen and her twin Rowan, grew up on the grounds of national parks- their parents are park rangers. National parks also happen to be where the dragons are located. Most humans avoid them, not Aspen. A thrill seeker till the end, she loves photographing the majestic animals. Sid is the new kid at school and he is hiding something. (Think Twilight here). Sid just found out that he the new dragon king- and he has to spend the next 10 years as a human. Being the new king, means that he and his girlfriend of hundreds of years have to break up. A dragon is killing humans- eating them- and Aspen/Sid have set out to find the murderer.

Aspen tries to be feisty and says she is a dare devil. She is also a loner with only one friend, Tori. Tori is annoying and I did not really get this relationship at all. Aspen is completely rude to Sid, and he just keeps coming back for more. Sid is supposed to be the king of dragons, and yet he acts like a lovesick child.

Both main characters seem a little emotionally dull. Aspen had a horrible event happen to her and it doesn’t really affect her. Sid just spend several centuries with another gal, and is not even a little heartbroken about not being able to be with her. The chemistry is lacking between these two.

The most interesting part is the tattoo that appeared on Aspen’s ankle. I kept reading to figure out how they played into the story. There were a lot of secondary characters that made you want to find out what happens with them. They also held my interesting. Aspen and Sid not so much.

If you like antsy teen relationships without a lot substance than this is the book for you.

It wasn’t for me but here are some reviews that praise the book.

Amanda rated this 4 out of 5 stars

Kelly rated it 5 out of 5 stars

My Rating 2 out of 5 stars

Review: House of Leights

Author Jaymin Eve
Format e-book
Print Length 260 pages
Publisher self
Published July 10, 2018

Maya has never had much to complain about. Sure, her parents are absent a lot, having important jobs in the government, but at the end of the day she has all the material possessions a girl could want. Not to mention a great best friend, and secure spot in the popular group at her school.

Yet she can never shake the feeling of displacement. Constantly searching for something that’s missing from her life.

Turns out Maya is part of something much bigger than her human existence, and after a mysterious stranger saves her from an ambush at a party, he brings her into his world.

And turns her world completely upside down.

My Opinion

Maya is a senior in high school and her life is pretty great. Until that is she goes to a party and gets attacked on the way home. Then she finds out that her loving parents do indeed work for the government, just not doing what she thought. They are ambassadors to aliens. Turns out she knows a secret, that she didn’t know she knew. Oh… and an alien baddie is after her blood. What is a gal to do but jump ship with her bestie to an alien world? Thank goodness momma and daddy get to come along.

Maya’s life is different from the other two keepers. Emma is an orphan and Callie was raised by a paranoid momma on the run. So it is easy to expect her to be a little entitled or snobby. But with her parents by her side, she tracks of to another world and tries to save the day. One cheerleader at a time.

I liked Maya, but her bestie Brad stole the show a few times. Their relationship to each other is pretty spectacular to see. She also took the backseat to Chase. Because that is one guy a gal could fall in love with in an instant. Dang. What was Jaymin thinking when she wrote him? Braxton still holds by heart, with Brace and Baelen tied at second. So she can write an alpha male that will make your heart flutter.

The romance in this one was a bit on the back burner as Laous is getting more powerful and people have died on both sides of the war. I am glad that the pairing of the secrets to a Daelighter is a bit clearer now. I hated the thought of insta-love without a reason.

Overall this series is good, fast-paced and pretty much brain candy. If you like gals who aren’t afraid to stand up for themselves and the rest of the world than you will like this one too. I really can’t wait to see where this is all headed.

My Rating 3 out of 5 stars

Favorite Quote He was an alien, a Daelighter. Why were the good ones always gay, taken, or aliens? Seriously.

Review: How to Marry a Werewolf

Author Gail Carriger
Format ebook
Print Length 196 pages
Publisher self
Published May 13, 2018

Guilty of an indiscretion? Time to marry a werewolf.

WEREWOLVES

The monsters left Faith ruined in the eyes of society, so now they’re her only option. Rejected by her family, Faith crosses the Atlantic, looking for a marriage of convenience and revenge.

But things are done differently in London. Werewolves are civilized. At least they pretend to be.

AMERICANS

Backward heathens with no culture, Major Channing has never had time for any of them. But there’s something special about Faith. Channing finds himself fighting to prove himself and defend his species. But this werewolf has good reason not to trust human women.

Even if they learn to love, can either of them forgive?

From the New York Times bestselling author of the Parasol Protectorate series comes a stand alone romance set in the same universe. Look out for appearances from favorite characters and the serious consequences of unwarranted geology.

A Note On Chronology

The Claw & Courtship novellas can be read in any order. This book can be enjoyed without having read any of Gail’s other works. Set in the spring of 1895 this story occurs after events chronicled in Romancing the Werewolf.

My Opinion

Supernaturals have been known to polite society for a while now. However, it is not becoming of a lady in America to have relationships with one. So when Faith is caught in a compromising situation what is her family to do but send her to relatives in England. Where they are much more accepting. What a welcome relief her English family is- kind, warm, and friendly. So different from her immediate family, that Faith knows that the other shoe must drop soon. Major Channing is the third in command of his pack and a werewolf. He happens to head the BUR, The Bureau of Unnatural Registry. His task at hand is to be on the outlook for special bullets that could kill werewolves and vampires. He meets Faith when she gets off the boat, and has to look through all of the passengers stuff. From there they meet time and time again, each meeting stranger than the last.

I am so grateful that this is a love story that takes time. Major Channing had been a background character is several of the Parasol Protectorate books and for him to have a fast and furious love story would not be aligned with what we have come to know of him.

Faith is a practical gal, who knows her worth and knows that her parents do not understand it all. She is more than dancing and dresses. Her family treatment of her is disgusting. She needs someone like Channing to balance out the horrors what she has endured. Channing for the most part had no clue what to do with her or his attraction to her. Channing for the most part is still his amazingly grumpy standoffish self. That is until Faith comes around, and turns his world upside down. She has no problem making sure that Channing knows what she is thinking at all times and to be honest that is exactly what Channing needs.

I enjoyed this book, although I did wish it was longer. Channing and Faith are an adorable couple to watch manage the realm of romance, science and pack life.

My Rating 3 out of 5 stars

Waiting on Wednesday (42) Muffin Top

Hey y'all, thanks so much for stopping by my WoW!

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly meme, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine which spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

The only thing about me that’s a size zero is the filter on my mouth. I’ve got a big personality, a big rack, and a big number on the scale. And I’m perfectly fine with that.

But when some random guy suggests I might not be eating alone if I’d ordered a salad instead of a hamburger I’m shocked silent, which is a feat, trust me.

That brings us to one sexy fireman named Frankie Hartigan. He’s hot. He’s funny… And he’s just apologized for being late for our “date” then glared at the fat-shaming jerk. Next thing I know, he’s sitting down and ordering himself dinner.

I have no problem telling him I don’t need a pity date… unless of course it’s to my high school reunion next week. Oops where did that last bit come from? And what do I do now that he’s said yes?!

Because this is no make-over story, and I think Frankie is using me for something. I just have to figure out what…

Why am I waiting?

The first book in the series left me with mixed feelings. I wasn’t sure if I was going to read the next book- then I previewed the first chapter at the end of Butterface. How Frankie handles that stranger saying mean things is pure gold.  I also really liked Frankie and Lucy as secondary characters in the first book and am hoping that this one leave me with more love feels than not.

Review: The Princess Must Strike

Author Jaymin Eve, Everly Frost
Format e-book
Print Length 307 pages
Publisher self
Published October 1, 2018

A power lost. An enemy gained.

In a gargoyle city beneath the streets of Chicago, Storm Princess Marbella Mercy walks a dangerous path to find the only source of magic that will save Baelen Rath's life.

Now in control of her storm power, she must infiltrate gargoyle territory, heal Baelen, and escape. It's a simple get in, get out plan ... until she crosses paths with the brutal gargoyle king.

Already in possession of savage power, the king is hell bent on adding the storm to his list. Wanting the Princess for his own, he is prepared to do anything to bend her to his will.

When the king's ruthless actions push Marbella to the edge, she is left with only one choice - the princess must strike.

My Opinion

This one starts off with a bang literally seconds from when the previous book ends. Baelen is cocooned in a shell of storm power. Marbella is off to save him with just Jasper and the storm along with her phoenix to help her. The path is dangerous, more enemies will come out and surprisingly a few allies that were to never be.

Within moments of Marbella and the group taking off for the gargoyle spings they are thrust back into action with an escaped gargoyle begging elves for their help and sanctuary. The Gargoyle king’ guards are fast to retrieve her, yet out heroes and heroine are not giving her up. With some unknown help from the land, their air maneuvers allow them to escape. They then find Llion, the gargoyle that we met in the first book. Llion and the new gal do not get along, with good reason. His markings are telling of his true character or are they? Maybe the gargoyle king and the Elven Council are a lot a like?

Marbella cares not, walking start into enemy territory to save her love. There is she captured, and taken to the palace. Here she finds out how truly off their rockers the Elven Council really is- having witnessed first hand their corruption. Baelen is taken off away from Marbella, and she is sent to the mines. The gargoyle king will help her with the springs if she helps him find the hidden gargoyle heartstones. Marbella soon realizes that all of the gargoyle race is being held hostage by the new king.

The miners see her as a weakness- someone they do not want on their team all but Llion that is. They soon learn that it does not do well for them to underestimate her. She starts to talk to the other miners, all of whom are males. She learns their story and becomes the beacon of strength. It is through her diplomacy that they realize that they cannot continue as they are.

Marbella is very much isolated from all that she knows in this book. She does not have Baelen to support her, her guards to protect her, or her storm power to keep her company. She has only herself- and boy does she grow. She learns to trust in herself, and to rely on herself- for the first time in seven years. Everything she does is for the good of others, which is why she must prevail.

I very much disliked the lack of Baelen in this book. I trust where the author is going with this, and it helped with Marbella’s character development but it kinda sucks for the romance side of things.

Holy cow that ending though! I mean, one cliffhanger after another. Thank goodness the next one is releasing soon. Can it come sooner?

Book Trailer Saturday (39) Archenemies

Some people believe you can fall in love at first sight. When it comes to books I believe those people. Book trailers are an excellent way to fall in love at first sight. I hope to feature a book trailer here every Saturday to help you fall in love at first sight...

The Renegades Trilogy continues, in this fiercely awaited second installment after the New York Times-bestselling Renegades by Marissa Meyer, author of the Lunar Chronicles.

Time is running out.
Together, they can save the world.
But they each other's worst nightmare.

In Renegades, Nova and Adrian (aka Insomnia and Sketch) fought the battle of their lives against the Anarchist known as the Detonator. It was a short-lived victory.

The Anarchists still have a secret weapon, one that Nova believes will protect her. The Renegades also have a strategy for overpowering the Anarchists, but both Nova and Adrian understand that it could mean the end of Gatlon City - and the world - as they know it.

Waiting on Wednesday (40) Snow In Love

Hey y'all, thanks so much for stopping by my WoW!
Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly meme, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine which spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating...

What's better than one deliciously cozy, swoon-worthy holiday story? Four of them, from some of today's bestselling authors.

From KASIE WEST, a snowy road trip takes an unexpected detour when secrets and crushes are revealed.

From AIMEE FRIEDMAN, a Hanukkah miracle may just happen when a Jewish girl working as a department store elf finds love.

From MELISSA DE LA CRUZ, Christmas Eve gets a plot twist when a high school couple exchange surprising presents.

From NIC STONE, a scavenger hunt amid the holiday crowds at an airport turns totally romantic.

So grab a mug of hot cocoa, snuggle up, and get ready to fall in love...

Why I am waiting?

With all the hype about pumpkin spice and all the halloween decorations surrounding me. I can't help but wishing it was more peppermint mocha season and this book will put me in the mood for just that.

Teaser Tuesday (40) The Princess Must Strike

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers.

And the protocols? Actually, it wasn’t me who burned those to the ground; it was the Elven Command when they tried to kill Baelen and take my power. That’s when they made me their enemy.

“You were Supreme Incorruptible,” I whisper. “You were the heir to the throne.” She draws a shaky breath, head down, her voice muffled against her knees. “I was. But then I died.”

Marbella has a long battle a head of her. Will she save Balen? Will she herself die, as others have? Will November 1 get here faster? This cover though...gorgeous!

Review: The Vampires Fake Fiancée

Author Kristen Painter
Format e-book
Print Length 360 pages
Publisher Sugar Skull
Published Jan. 11, 2016

Welcome to Nocturne Falls, the town where Halloween is celebrated 365 days a year. The tourists think it's all a show: the vampires, the werewolves, the witches, the occasional gargoyle flying through the sky. But the supernaturals populating the town know better.

Living in Nocturne Falls means being yourself. Fangs, fur, and all.

Sebastian Ellingham isn’t known for being a happy vampire. And when his long estranged wife comes to town expecting to pick up where they left off, things take a sharp turn toward cranky. Sure he’s been protecting her for centuries, but her assumption that he’s still available (he is) rankles.

His answer is to hire a woman to play his fiancée. The lucky victim is Tessa Blythe, sister of one of the town’s deputies, librarian in need of a job and, oh yes, reluctant Valkyrie. Playing along with Sebastian is all about the end game for her, the position of Dean of Library Studies at the local private academy.

When unexpected sparks fly between them, they agree to mutually deny the attraction. Fate, however, has other plans…

My Opinion

This is the third book in the Nocturne Falls series, each book is standalone so you can read the series out of order. Some old friends do show up in this book though, so if you like to know what is going with some sided characters than I would recommend it in order. Back home in Nocturne Falls, Georgia where the supers can hang out like regular people. The humans can hang out like supers. Everyone just gets a long, granted the humans have no clue that they are surrounded by people that go bump in the night.

Sebastian is a rich vampire who takes his responsibilities seriously, so much so that some would say he was a recluse without friends. His wife not so much- never mind that he hasn’t seen in her hundreds of years. That she comes back wanting him to love her just as much as when she left makes his blood boil. So he does what any self-respecting vampire would do- he proves her wrong with a fake fiancée, Tessa Blythe, a Valkyrie.

Being a Valkyrie, Tessa is supposed to be a warrior, a defender of those weaker instead she is a bookworm. Tessa, wants to be the librarian at Harwood’s Academy, the school for paranormals in this lovely town. Agreeing to be pretend to be Sebastian’s fiancée for a few days is no hardship in order to get her dream job. She does fight her paranormal side, often appearing afraid of it or maybe just afraid of what she may become when she does take up the sword.

Sebastian is an arrogant, rich vampire who was brought down a peg or two when his wife left him centuries before. Being deserted by the one that he sired was a blow to his ego, leaving him hurting. This is why he now keeps to himself.

The chemistry between these two are off the charts- they start off not really liking each other. Tessa feels the need to protect Sebastian from his ex, and he feels the need to protect her from his ex. From there things get complicated.

Old characters make an appearance and new ones wiggle their way into our hearts. Not Evangeline though, that is one vampire that needs a stake right through the heart. Or at least a window letting sunshine in and her having to walk into the rays.

Sometimes you just need a fun book, The Vampires’ Fake Fiancée is that. It was fun to watch the fake couple navigate the charade. It was fun watching the selfish brat of a wife be well bratty. Most importantly it was fun watching these two fall in love.

My Rating 3 out of 5 stars
