Blog Tour Stop: Grimm Consequences

A word from Kate SeRine: Author of the Transplanted Tales Series

Music is a huge part of my writing process. Before I even begin writing a story, I start putting together my playlist, considering the overall tone of the novel, the personalities of the characters, the conflicts they’ll experience, etc. Often, the playlist I end up with is an eclectic mix of music. And every now and then, some of those songs not only have the perfect sound to set the mood while I’m writing, but the lyrics also happen to hit the mark.

That was especially true when it came to the music I found inspirational while writing Grimm Consequences, the upcoming novella in my Transplanted Tales series. Grimm Consequences is the sequel to Red, the first novel in the series, and is the next chapter in the love story of Tess “Red” Little and Nate Grimm.

For most of Red, readers only get to see the softer, loving side of Nate. Until the end. It’s what he does then to protect Tess that will lead to the events in Grimm Consequences. And now, he’s holding nothing back.

So, without further ado, here are just a few of the songs that were an integral part of my writing soundtrack for Grimm Consequences:

Nate Grimm’s theme song: “Demons” by Imagine Dragons

Tess “Red” Little’s theme song: “Red” by Combichrist

Love theme(s): “Timeless” by Airborne Toxic Event; “Pieces” by Red

Songs for suspenseful scenes: Pretty much anything by Apocalyptica, but two of my favorites for this book were “Worlds Collide” and “Last Hope”

Ass-kicking songs: “My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark” by Fall Out Boy; “Bitter End” by Veer Union

Just for fun: “Don’t Fear the Reaper” by Blue Öyster Cult
