After captivating millions across the globe, the Shadow Falls saga reaches its final—and most unforgettable—chapter yet! Prepare to fall in love all over again...

Being a dyslexic witch is a curse in itself, but Miranda Kane’s time at Shadow Falls has helped her harness her magical powers. Now, just as she’s finally mastered them and is preparing to graduate with her friends, a near-death experience threatens to ruin it all.

Miranda awakens in the hospital with a mysterious tattoo that no one can explain. As she struggles to make sense of it – and questions her feelings for a certain irresistible shape-shifter and a hot new guy – the strange markings begin to spread all over her body, leaving her desperate to find answers. But before she can solve that problem, a new one arises: her sister is missing.

Has her sister been kidnapped? Miranda will risk her life to find out. Will she live to share the day she’s worked so hard for with her friends? When the clock strikes midnight, will Miranda make it to her graduation at Shadow Falls?

My Opinion

This book is a triple threat- the perfect ending to a series, an amazing release date with it being a week before Halloween, and an epic story for a beloved secondary character. That is right follow readers- Miranda gets her own book and CC Hunter does not disappoint.

Miranda’s sister Tabitha convinces her to visit a lady who can foresee the future of relationships. Or so Tabitha believes. Miranda goes, the house explodes. Leaving Miranda and Tabitha in the hospital, from which Tabitha gets taken. Which of course means that Miranda will do anything to find her, the things you do for a sibling.

Miranda has always been a fantastic secondary character, which is why I was so excited that she was getting her own book. This was her moment to shine and girl went supernova on us. She has always had a little bit of self-doubt due to her learning disability. Her dyslexia is the reason she is who she is- determine, persistent, loyal, warm and loving. Her friends wouldn’t have it any other way and in Midnight Hour she finds out why.

As for the love triangle, I started this book absolutely hating Perry. He had hurt her one too many times. I was lukewarm towards Shawn- anyone besides Perry, he had Miranda so heartbroken she was planning mean video games. Then it happens, chapter four and chapter nine. After those two chapters I turn Team Perry in a frantic fangirl way. He has something to prove, but only to himself. He needs to know that he is good enough for Miranda- that he won’t bring her down.

The girls friendship if course is the glue that holds the series together. They devotion and loyalty to each other is a rare thing in today’s fast pace, technological take over society. It is what makes the series great.

Midnight Hour is an impressive ending to an outstanding series. There is only one question left to be answered- what happened to Steve? Other than that the series wraps up nicely almost like a Halloween night with a full moon and clear skies.

My Rating 5 out of 5 stars

C.C. Hunter brings The Shadow Falls saga to a spectacular conclusion in this thrilling finale: Midnight Hour!

Character Interview

Angela: (Sitting in a cool coffee shop near the college with Kylie, Della and Miranda): Congrats, gals! I hear you just graduated. I know y'all are planning on living together at college. Can you tell me a little about your new place (is it a dorm, apartment, house rental).

Kylie: We decided to go with a house.

Della: Duh, can you image us living in a dorm?

Miranda: Yeah, I mean with Della’s vampire ‘tude, Kylie’s glowing issues and my witch craft goofs, we all decided living by ourselves was the best thing.

Kylie: Yeah, but we love the house. It’s a three bedroom, two baths and nice living room and kitchen.

Della: Yeah, but it stinks. I think three college guys used to rent it. It smells like old beer and dirty male underwear.

Miranda: I told you I could cast an aroma spell on it.

Della: Sorry, I know you’re some big tree witch now, but I still don’t trust your powers. There’s no telling what you might conjure up.

Miranda: (Rolling eyes and groaning) Can’t you ever lose the ‘tude?

Kylie: Hey… we’re being interviewed here. Let’s not fight.

Angela: (Looks at Kylie) Are they still fighting?

Kylie: To paraphrase Della, Do bears crap in the woods?

Miranda: But we love each other.

Angela: Freedom sounds so refreshing! No more answering to adults although I have a feeling Burnett will have a bit of a hard time not checking up on y'all. What are you planning on studying?

Miranda: (Smiles) I hate to say this, but it doesn’t feel a lot different. I think toward the end, we pretty much did what we wanted to. And Burnett isn’t as bad as Holiday. She’s dropped in four times. Not that I’m complaining. But the last time she showed up, she had tears in her eyes when she left. She says Shadow Falls isn’t the same without us. We all almost started crying. I mean, we love it here, but we miss home.

Kylie: (Nods and then laughs) Yeah, but when Burnett showed up I swear I had to talk him out of setting up an alarm system.

Della: Yeah, and I told him we didn’t need an alarm. Not as long as I’m here. And as for what I’m majoring in? Criminal Justice. My plans haven’t changed. I’m going to work for the FRU. I want to kick ass and catch bad guys.

Miranda: I’m getting an education degree. Holiday has already guaranteed me a job teaching at Shadow Falls. But I’m also hoping to work with dyslexic kids. Teach them that dyslexia isn’t something that should stop you from achieving your dreams.

Angela: (Looks at Kylie) What about you, Kylie?

Kylie: Psychology. Holiday even said she got a glimpse into the future. She said I’d go in that direction. But . . . I might take some courses in Criminal Justice, too.

Angela: You want to work for the FRU, too?

Kylie: Not full time. Just special cases. When they need me.

Della: She’s a protector and can turn invisible. That means she can kick butt like nobody can and walk into a room and spy on people without them ever knowing. The FRU needs her.

Kylie: Just not full time.

Angela: Long distant relationships are hard, do you gals have a game plan for how you are going to handle it?

Miranda: School’s is only about an hour away. It’s not really long distance. The biggest problem is finding the time. Perry, Lucas, and even Chase are all taking classes at the junior college in Fallen and working part time with the FRU. So we usually see them two or three times a week. I wish it was more—I really miss him—but between the studying and classes, it really is probably for the best.

Della: Lucas is the worst. I mean he’ll show up here at 2 in the morning sometimes.

Kylie: Chase does, too.

Della: Not as bad as Lucas. I’ve heard him come in for the last three nights.

Kylie: (Smiles) So my boyfriend misses me more.

Miranda: Please. Perry misses me so much he’s miserable. He would fly here every night if I let him. But he has to study and work with the FRU. Living on six hours of sleep a night isn’t enough for him to be on top of his game.

Angela: Can you hint about what you guys are doing after graduation?

Kylie: Like Della and Miranda, I’ll probably go back to Shadow Falls, too. With all the chameleons starting school there, Holiday needs another counselor.

Angela: So all three of you are planning on going back?

Miranda: Why not. It’s home. Not to disrespect our parents and that home, but Shadow Falls is where we learned who we are. It’s where we faced most of our demons. It’s where we really figured out our place in the world. If we can help other supernaturals find that, then we’re happy to do that. (Kylie and Della nod along with Miranda.)

Angela: So what about . . . I know you are young, but is marriage on the table?

Kylie: Yeah. (Kylie holds out her left hand and proudly shows off her engagement ring) It’s official. We’re getting married as soon as I graduate.

Angela: Congratulations. (She looks at Miranda and Della.)

Della: I don’t have a ring, but Chase is my soulmate. And he’s already asking about the kind of jewelry I like. He can’t hide shit from me. I know he’s shopping. (She smiles and her eyes lights up with love.)

Miranda: Perry hasn’t come out and asked me. But he’s hinted plenty. He’s even shopping for a house and made me go see one right outside of Fallen. He said I need to like it, because it’s going to be our house.

Angela: So all ends well?

Miranda, Della, and Kylie: Yes. (They all smile and nod.)

Miranda: It’s been a wild ride for all of us. We’ve felt pain, we’ve laughed, and we found love. We’ve discovered our strengths.

Kylie: We’ve discovered who we are.

Della: We’ve learned life comes with changes and to accept them is the only way to survive.

Angela: So is this really goodbye?

Kylie: Never say never.

Book Trailer Saturday (44) Vassa in the Night

Some people believe you can fall in love at first sight. When it comes to books I believe those people. Book trailers are an excellent way to fall in love at first sight. I hope to feature a book trailer here every Saturday to help you fall in love at first sight...

In the enchanted kingdom of Brooklyn, the fashionable people put on cute shoes, go to parties in warehouses, drink on rooftops at sunset, and tell themselves they’ve arrived. A whole lot of Brooklyn is like that now—but not Vassa’s working-class neighborhood.

In Vassa’s neighborhood, where she lives with her stepmother and bickering stepsisters, one might stumble onto magic, but stumbling out again could become an issue. Babs Yagg, the owner of the local convenience store, has a policy of beheading shoplifters—and sometimes innocent shoppers as well. So when Vassa’s stepsister sends her out for light bulbs in the middle of night, she knows it could easily become a suicide mission.

But Vassa has a bit of luck hidden in her pocket, a gift from her dead mother. Erg is a tough-talking wooden doll with sticky fingers, a bottomless stomach, and a ferocious cunning. With Erg’s help, Vassa just might be able to break the witch’s curse and free her Brooklyn neighborhood. But Babs won’t be playing fair…

Review: Dirty Trick

Print Length 250 pages

This matchmaker's about to meet her match...

Grace Love is lousy with men. She can spot a match for someone else a mile away,
and her balls-on instincts are why her matchmaking business is thriving, but finding her own Prince Charming? The only guy who makes her sixth sense tingle is her playboy best friend, Trick, and no way is she risking their friendship, no matter how hot she knows the sex will be.

SWAT officer Trick Mathews is a patient guy, but Grace’s inability to see what’s right in front of her is grinding on his last nerve. Yeah, he blew his shot at breaking out of the friend zone when he tamped down the urge to lick her from head to toe the day they met, but he’s got a plan that’ll change her mind. Incognito at Salem's hottest Halloween party, he’ll show her exactly how good they could be…and that he’s the man for her.

My Opinion

Grace Love is the owner of a matchmaking business. She herself however does not have a glowing record when it comes to her own matches. She has been burned by love in the form of a lying ex-fiancé. So, she moved out started a match making business and has been living life relatively low-key. She has a great job that she is good at and loves to hang out with both of her best friends. Serena is always there for a laugh and to make sure that Grace doesn’t get screwed over. Trick is well Trick, he is a cop that lives next door to her. When she moved in, he was a straight player. Lately, though he has been hanging out more and more with Grace and less with other girls. He has been trying to show her that he has changed his playboy ways but she is not taking the hint. Then at the Halloween party, he thought for sure she would know who he was. When she didn’t it was the perfect time to show her what could be. Only he forgets to tell her later that her mystery man was him.

Grace is adorable. She is the soft to Serena’s edginess. She is home to Trick’s dangerous life (being on SWAT is dangerous). She is the sensitive, loving type. Sometimes she can be klutzy but mainly just cute. Her ex really did a number on her and so I understand why she would avoid putting herself back out there. She doesn’t know what to do with her growing attraction to Trick and so that could be a problem.

Trick is swoon worthy and yet he does a jerk move. Not telling her who he is was a jerk move. Yet, he knows it and just hopes that she can forgive him. He has so many feels when it comes to Grace that it is hard to be mad at him for lying. He feels completely guilty for it, which is the one thing he had going for him.

Dirty Trick is a fun loving, friends to lover tale. Grace and Trick’s story leaves you completely happy with a silly smile on your face. That instantly turns into a smirk because you know that Serena is about to meet her match. Hence the frantic search on Amazon to one-click.

My Rating 4 out of 5 stars

Cade's lips moved fervently over mine as his gingers skimmed upward and tangled into my hair. It sent every nerve into

hyper drive, and in response, I rose onto my toes to deepened the kiss. The butterflies in my stomach turned to falcons, frenzied and trying to break free from a lifetime of oppression. Falling. I felt like I was falling. That dizzy, dropping sensation that came when balanced on the top of a roller coaster, just before taking the final, daring plunge into what you hope isn't oblivion.

Tears filled her eyes. "Promise you'll be careful."

"I promise." He ran his finger, over her lips, still wet form his kiss.

Review: Vampire’s Kiss

Author Ella Summers
Format e-book
Print Length 201 pages
Publisher Night Spark Media
Published October 14, 2016

Leda Pierce is working as a paranormal bounty hunter on the Frontier, the dividing line between human civilization and the plains of monsters. Life is simple and the pay modest, but at least she has her family. That is, until a vampire hunt goes wrong and her brother goes missing, captured by the dark angels of hell.

With no magical powers of her own and no way to find him, Leda’s only option is to go to New York and join the Legion of Angels, an elite unit of supernatural soldiers with powers gifted to them by the gods themselves. If she can survive long enough to make it up the ranks, she will gain the magic she needs to find her brother.

But Leda soon finds herself on the wrong side of a conspiracy that will shake up the supernatural world—and at the mercy of a fiercely powerful and tempting angel.

Vampire’s Kiss is the first book in the Legion of Angels series.

My Opinion

Leda grew up in a family of her own making, Callie her non-adopted adopted mom raised her right. Take care of your siblings and your siblings will take care of you. So when her brother Zane is taken with no clue as to find him, she and her momma visit an old friend blessed with sight. The only way to get Zane back is if Leda join the Legion of Angels and levels up fast to a level nine. Once at Headquarters though, Leda so realizes that more is going on than meets the eye.

Leda has a sassiness that shows up every now and then but doesn’t always remain. She questions authority at every turn. This does not always go well for one who is training to be a solider. There were a few times where I was rolling my eyes at her. There is some tension with her and Nero – I wouldn’t label it sexual tension. It is clear that he is her love interest but I felt that there was a lack of chemistry between the two of them. Hopefully this will get better with the next book in the series. The friendship and circle of trust that is so blatant in all three Dragon Born series, is also nonexistence there. Which makes sense since Leda just met everyone at Headquarters. Relationships though can make or break a book, so hopefully she can form some really soon.

I liked the world building and the background story. Hopefully the kinks that were causing me not to love this one will be worked out in the next book. If you haven’t read anything by Ella Summers yet, try her Dragon Born series first, once you have finished them then move on to this one. She tends to put out books fast so you should have no worries.

Review: A Shadow Bright and Burning

Author Jessica Cluess
Format e-book
Print Length 416 pages

I am Henrietta Howel. The first female sorcerer. The prophesied one. Or am I?

Henrietta Howel can burst into flames. When she is brought to London to train with Her Majesty's sorcerers, she meets her fellow sorcerer trainees, young men eager to test her powers and her heart. One will challenge her. One will fight for her. One will betray her. As Henrietta discovers the secrets hiding behind the glamour of sorcerer life, she begins to doubt that she's the true prophesied one. With battle looming, how much will she risk to save the city--and the one she loves?

My Opinion

A Shadow Bright and Burning is the first book in a series called the Kingdom of Fire. Henrietta Howel is a teacher at a school for girls, when a sorcerer Agrippa comes to test the girls for the ability to make fire. After one horrible test, Henrietta runs outside and burns the ground. The sorcerer is here due to her- she is the fire burner. Her bestie, Rook, a stable hand finds her calms her down and they return to the school. Later one of the seven ancients’ familiar comes looking around – probably for Rook and their secret is spilt. Agrippa takes both of them back to London so that he can train her. Rook is an Unclean, and Henrietta has to fight for him to be allowed to come along.

Henrietta is an orphan, one who skirts the rules. Rook is her friend, she is his only friend- has been since childhood. You aren’t suppose to befriend the unclean and yet she does. This shows strength of character. She questions the roles and expectations of woman in their world. When her training wasn’t going so well, she found another trainer to help her. She is focused, on becoming a sorcerer and saving Rook.

Rook is Unclean, he was attacked by an ancient at an early age and left for dead. Henrietta saved his life. He knows that he makes her life more difficult, regardless what she says but leaving her is not an option. She is his rock. He is going through changes, of which a lesser man has died from. He fights with every ounce of strength he has in order to remain good enough for Henrietta. Even if their relationship remains that of only friendship he is blessed to call her that.

A Shadow Bright and Burning is an entertaining read, and I did enjoy it. So why the three stars- I didn’t love it. Nothing stood out days later as oh my goodness that was amazing. I was able to walk away from it for hours without thinking man I should be reading right now. It was an interesting story, and I want to see what happens next. Blackwood, who I didn’t talk about as to not give away anything was my favorite character.

My Rating 3 out of 5 stars

Book Trailer Saturday (43) Blood, Ink & Fire

Some people believe you can fall in love at first sight. When it comes to books I believe those people. Book trailers are an excellent way to fall in love at first sight. I hope to feature a book trailer here every Saturday to help you fall in love at first sight.

Imagine a world without books…
In the future, books are a distant memory. The written word has been replaced by an ever-present stream of images known as Verity. In the controlling dominion of the United Vales of Fell, reading is obsolete and forbidden, and readers themselves do not—cannot—exist.
But where others see images in the stream, teenager Noelle Hartley sees words. She’s obsessed with what they mean, where they came from, and why they found her.

Noelle’s been keeping her dangerous fixation with words a secret, but on the night before her seventeenth birthday, a rare interruption in the stream leads her to a mysterious volume linked to an underworld of rebel book lovers known as the Nine of the Rising. With the help of the Risers and the beguiling boy Ledger, Noelle discovers that the words within her are precious clues to the books of the earlier time—and as a child of their bookless age, she might be the world’s last hope of bringing them back.

Blood, Ink & Fire is a gripping, evocative tale that asks, who would we be without books?

Excerpt

My focus drifts to my sisters. “Do what you have to and stay safe. Don’t worry about me.”

It’s a stupid thing to say. Of course they’ll worry. For once in our lives I’m the one who needs coddling. Not that I don’t absolutely hate it.

My hiking boots press into the ground as we move away from the road. They’re not what I count as cute shoes. But since my cute clothes tend to end up covered with blood and smelly supernatural fluids, here I am in jeans, a long-sleeved shirt and vest, and yeah, the hiking boots.

Bren leaps over a thick section of brush, landing smoothly as I try to figure out the closest way in. “It’s clear,” he says. “Come on.”

He means the first few feet are clear. I can’t see jack over these thick brambles. I look hopelessly to Emme, wishing I didn’t have to. She regards me almost apologetically, realizing what I’m asking her to do.

Emme is good at a lot of things: baking, scrapbooking, and keeping up on all our collective bills. But her aim sucks. So when she throws me over the brush with her force, it takes all I have not to scream. Thankfully Bren is good at catching, no matter how bad the throw.

“Christ,” I mutter as he eases me down.

Shayna inherited a bit of were from Koda’s essence. And while she’ll never heal or run as fast as a were, he gave her enough agility to clear the thick brambles without Emme’s help.

Poor Emme. Her aim isn’t any better on herself. Bren has to “go long” to keep her from slamming into a tree when she launches herself forward.

Shayna and I jog ahead to where Bren is lowering Emme to the ground. He kisses her cheek, a show of affection he often demonstrates to us, but this time she doesn’t welcome it like she once did. She meets his eyes, backing away slowly, as if she’s afraid to step too close. Bren frowns, speaking low. Emme answers with a nod, but again steps further away from him.

Shayna doesn’t seem to notice, skipping across the rugged terrain as if we’re out for a stroll and not walking into some evil crap we may have to kill before it rips us apart. But I notice. Something is definitely up with Emme. I stiffen when he strokes her cheek. And son of a bitch, it may have to do with Bren!

Yet Taran must learn and learn fast. Time is running out. The fire she once mastered so easily has become her greatest adversary and is now slowly burning her alive . . .

My Opinion

After the events for A Curse Unbroken readers were left with a happy ending for Celia and Aric. Yet the fate of mated pair, Taran and Gemini was questionable. Gemini, the Beta to Aric’s Alpha is the one for Taran. Patient while she is anything but, cautious when she is impulsive, they were the perfect mated couple. That is until the last battle when Taran is torn apart and wolf magic is used to give her a new arm. Not only is her magic and the wolf magic are at odds, so are her and Gemini. The battle made Taran’s confidence go down the drain. Not helping matters any is Gemini pulling away from her. Her fire is attacking those she loves, and she must turn to the same individuals that attempted to harm her sisters when they first arrived to Lake Tahoe.

Taran has always been the sister with a personality and a half- spunky, feisty and full of life, ready to take on the world. The disfigurement and Gemini’s reaction has brought her down a peg or two. The emotional rollercoaster that Taran goes through is enough to give anyone whiplash. She is angry not only at the world but also her mate. She has every right to be- what the heck- Gemini?

I have always adored Gemini, his calming presence always a blessing in the previous novels. Then this book happened, and if he had been in the same room as me-I kinda wanted to tell him that he was “digging his own grave.” There were times I wanted to slap him so hard that it knocked him into next week. As it stands he made me ugly cry twice- both times hubby asked if I was okay. On the topic of Genevieve, you are in the wrong, you know why and you deserve to be taken out back behind the shed for a nice smack down by Taran’s closest relatives. Too bad they all belong to your pack.

Taran- girl has been through heck and back. The punches just keep on coming and instead of giving up she gets even. She is not too good to get her hands dirty. She never gives up and love is the reason she tries so hard. She will find answer, even if it is one that is hard to swallow.

Of Flame and Light is the first full novel where Taran is the in the spotlight. Previously designated as support staff, or secondary character she shines in a book all her own. This book brings all the feels, especially if you are already invested in the previous books. Opening it was like coming home, and what an explosive home that is. You will laugh, you will cry and you will seriously want to yank Genevieve by the hair so hard that you get a hand full of nothing but roots. In short- go one click this series and binge read until you get to Of Flame and Light (read it slowly as it is a long time till the next one is released). The ending will leave you satisfied and yet curious- what is Misha up to? What is going on with Emme?

Waiting on Wednesday (42) Heartless

Hey y'all, thanks so much for stopping by my WoW!

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly meme, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine which spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

Long before she was the terror of Wonderland — the infamous Queen of Hearts — she was just a girl who wanted to fall in love.

Catherine may be one of the most desired girls in Wonderland, and a favorite of the yet-unmarried King of Hearts, but her interests lie elsewhere. A talented baker, all she wants is to open a shop with
her best friend and supply the Kingdom of Hearts with delectable pastries and confections. But according to her mother, such a goal is unthinkable for the young woman who could be the next Queen.

At a royal ball where Cath is expected to receive the king's marriage proposal, she meets Jest, the handsome and mysterious court joker. For the first time, she feels the pull of true attraction. At the risk of offending the King and infuriating her parents, she and Jest enter into an intense, secret courtship.

Cath is determined to define her own destiny and fall in love on her terms. But in a land thriving with magic, madness, and monsters, fate has other plans.

Why I am Waiting?

A story from the Queen of Hearts perspective- hopefully one that tells us why she is the way she is.

"Don't fight me," Gemini rasps when I tense against him, his breath teasing the sensitive skin along my neck. "Let me keep you safe from harm."

Taran has a legit concern, especially with how Gemini has been acting. Why oh why is he being this way and how can he flip flop to being the loving Gemini we know and cheer for? I really wish......

Review: Magic Binds

Author Ilona Andrews
Format e-book
Print Length 384 pages
Publisher Ace
Published Sept. 20, 2016

Mercenary Kate Daniels knows all too well that magic in post-Shift Atlanta is a dangerous

business. But nothing she’s faced could have prepared her for this…

Kate and the former Beast Lord Curran Lennart are finally making their relationship official. But there are some steep obstacles standing in the way of their walk to the altar…

Kate’s father, Roland, has kidnapped the demigod Saiman and is slowly bleeding him dry in his never-ending bid for power. A Witch Oracle has predicted that if Kate marries the man she loves, Atlanta will burn and she will lose him forever. And the only person Kate can ask for help is long dead.

The odds are impossible. The future is grim. But Kate Daniels has never been one to play by the rules…

My Opinion

Most books that focus on weddings are about love and roses. Magic Binds is not most books. While Kate is busy saving the Atlanta from her father, her wedding is being planned by the priest Chernobog, yepper, the Lord of Darkness. You gotta give it to Kate she could not have picked a better priest for her wedding. Roman shines in this book, shines brighter than an eclipse. She has other things to worry about such as the prediction from the Witch Oracle- where her beloved is in danger. That and her daddy has kidnapped a former friend that she wants back, Saiman.

Kate is kicking butt and taking no names in this one. Her daddy is a master strategist when it comes to war and she knows that she is out maneuvered. So she decides to get some ole fashioned family help. Curran is tasked with getting Saiman to safety. I love how when the odes seem against her. Kate picks up her weapon and comes out swinging.

Curran is the dream alpha male. He gave up Beast Lord for Kate. He stands by her regardless of her reckless plans and is willing to an extent to let her take that lead. He doesn’t back down and he knows that one day Kate’s daddy will break her heart. He will be there when that happens, just like the other countless times he has been there.

Derek and Julie, umm H-E-L-L-O give us their book already. I mean seriously, how he stands up for her is about the sweetest thing I have read in a long time. He has got to be the best non-boyfriend, boyfriend ever. He always has Kate’s back as well, he is just perfect for Julie. He is willing to go toe to toe for her against both Kate and Curran.

Magic Binds a great filler book, to an epic finish. I have no doubt that book ten will be epic, legendary even. Magic Binds ties up all the loose ends to get us to the final showdown. The real question is what is daddy up to? Why is he taking the steps that he is taking and is there anything that Kate can do to stop what has been foreseen? Things are revealed here that make you pause, gulp some breath and continue reading. More importantly you are left with a sense of the calm before the storm.

My Rating 5 out of 5 stars

Review: The Mistake

Author Elle Kennedy
Format e-book
Print Length 296 pages
Publisher Self
Published May 6, 2015

He’s a player in more ways than one…

College junior John Logan can get any girl he wants. For this hockey star, life is a parade of parties and hook-ups, but behind his killer grins and easygoing charm, he hides growing despair about the dead-end road he’ll be forced to walk after graduation. A sexy encounter with freshman Grace Ivers is just the distraction he needs, but when a thoughtless mistake pushes her away, Logan plans to spend his final year proving to her that he’s worth a second chance.

Now he’s going to need to up his game…

After a less than stellar freshman year, Grace is back at Briar University, older, wiser, and so over the arrogant hockey player she nearly handed her V-card to. She’s not a charity case, and she’s not the quiet butterfly she was when they first hooked up. If Logan expects her to roll over and beg like all his other puck bunnies, he can think again. He wants her back? He’ll have to work for it. This time around, she’ll be the one in the driver’s seat…and she plans on driving him wild.

My Opinion

The Mistake is the second book in the Off-Campus series by Elle Kennedy. It stars Garrett’s best friend Logan and the girl of his dreams, Grace- only he doesn’t know it. They meet by accident, hang out for a while and then something happens. Logan screws up royally.

Logan is a secondary character that I adored, and so for him to have his own book I was pretty happy. He has a lot on his plate- his scholarship, his family, him crushing on his bestie’s girls. It can really mess with a guy. He comes to Grace’s rescue when she didn’t even know that he needed to thanks to some mean gals on campus and that totally endeared him to me. Yeah even after the big screw up I was still all about Logan because of his rescue. I like that he knows he screwed up with Grace and would do anything and everything to win her back.

Grace starts off a little on the easy side. She also trust too fast and too much. There is a toxic friend in her life that she needs to dump like yesterday. I like that she doesn’t fall for Logan right away. She makes him work for it, which is a change of pace from lots of other NA novels. I liked that she makes him work for a second chance. Logan has to do six things before a second chance date occurs.

Logan is dedicated I will give him that. The Mistake had me giggling and sighing throughout the book. You really can’t go wrong with it- read the first book first though. To read it out of order would be a mistake.  A fun, light read that makes you happy about happily ever afters.

My Rating 4 out of 5 stars

Review: Remember Yesterday

Author Pintip Dunn
Format e-ARC
Print Length 400 pages
Publisher Entangled: Teen
Published October 4, 2016
The sequel to the sci-fi hit Forget Tomorrow is a twisting, turning roller-coaster ride—the perfect sci-fi futuristic read.

Seventeen-year-old Jessa Stone is the most valuable citizen in Eden City. Her psychic abilities could lead to significant scientific discoveries -- if only she'd let TechRA study her. But after they kidnapped and experimented on her as a child, cooperating with the scientists is the last thing Jessa would do.

But when she discovers the past isn't what she assumed, Jessa must join forces with budding scientist Tanner Callahan to rectify a fatal mistake made ten years ago. She'll do anything to change her past -- even if it means aligning herself with the enemy she swore to defeat.

My Opinion

Thank you to Entangled: Teen and Netgalley for allowing me to review this novel. This in no way influenced my review.

Ten years has passed since the events of Forget Tomorrow. Ten years is a long time for someone to feel unworthy, unloved and basically unwanted. Ten years of wondering if the wrong daughter died is enough to make anyone doubt themselves.

Callie saved her little sister Jessa, ten years ago. Jessa grew up in Harmony with Mike, Angela and Logan. Her momma remained behind as an anchor for her time traveling daddy. This of course led to some major momma issues. Jessa keeps looking for ways to make sure her sister’s sacrifice was not in vain. Her plans though ruin the research of Tanner, a boy genius who is supposed to be the founder of future memories.

I do not like Jessa. I know a main character that I enjoyed reading about but didn’t like- hard to imagine. I pretty much didn’t like her from the first sentence that came out of her mind. Yet, I understood where she was coming from. She kept comparing herself to Callie, which is silly. They are two different people. Her interactions with others were based on what her sister would have done which drove me insane. Survival guilt, it can be Hades. I did however love her interaction with Tanner.

Tanner as the boy genius and love interest for Jessa was just perfection. He is full of himself- in regards to his importance and his brains. It comes off sometimes as arrogant, but I loved it. I literally ate it up. He stole the show in every scene that he is in. I enjoyed how he tries to protect her, and how he pushes her away. I loved the verbal banter they would get into with each other.

Remember Yesterday is a good follow-up to Forget Tomorrow. The reader gets to find out what happens to all their old favorites and yet still learn to like new ones. The scenes with Logan about broke my heart into tiny pieces. Chairwoman Dresden needs a big kick in the behind, and hopefully Jessa’s momma and daddy will get back to the same timeline and age. There is supposed to be a third book in the series Seize Today which comes out next October so hopefully all of my bookish dreams for this series comes true then.

My Rating 4 out of 5 stars

A missing sister, a heart in turmoil, and a growing tattoo that no one understands: The Shadow Falls saga comes to a spectacular conclusion in this thrilling finale!

Being a dyslexic witch has never been easy for Miranda Kane, but
her time at Shadow Falls helped her tap into her true powers. Now her life is thrown into chaos after a near death experience leaves her with a mysterious growing tattoo no one can explain. Her heart is a mess over whether to get back together with Perry or take a chance on a new love, her parents are spitting up, and she may not get into the same college of her two best friends. To upend her world further, it appears her sister has been kidnapped and it’s not just her they want. Miranda’s only way of saving her sister may be to take her place. Will her friends at Shadow Falls save Miranda…or will she realize that she had the power to save herself all along?

Why I am Waiting?

Miranda’s story is finally here. It is Miranda’s story! Who will she pick Perry or Shawn? I am hoping Shawn and right now I am 1 to 1 on picking who the gals end up with. Miranda will be my tie breaker.
