When tragedy took away everything she loved, Mika Westbrooke hardened her heart and focused her energy on defeating her clan’s enemies. However, when a charming Cajun worms his way into the New York clan, her instincts and her wolf go haywire and she suspects that he may be the one fate intended for her--her True Mate. But Mika doesn't want a mate or to love again. But he can give her one thing she does want … a child of her own, to love and cherish and fill in the void in her heart.

One fateful night, Marc Delacroix calls in a favor from one of the most powerful Betas in the world, and finally escapes the nightmare he’s been living for decades. All he has to do now is keep his head down and serve the New York Lycan clan for the next five years then he can be truly free to live his life. But he didn’t expect to meet Mika Westbrooke or that his inner wolf would be so fixed on the green-eyed beauty. He knows he needs to focus on his goal, but Mika’s proving to be a distraction--an alluring one, but a distraction nonetheless. Then she gives him an offer he can’t refuse … one night with her sweet body, in exchange for giving her the pup she desperately wants.

They strike a bargain, but keeping things casual is harder than they think, and when someone tries to hurt Mika, his protective instincts kick in. Are the mages out to kill her or is it Delacroix’s past, coming back to haunt him?

Find out by downloading this sexy paranormal shifter romance!

This is a full-length werewolf paranormal romance with explicit love scenes, naughty language, and shifter suspense action with guaranteed HEA, no cheating and no cliffhangers!

Although it works as a standalone romance story, this book takes place in the True Mates series. Though not necessary, I recommend you read the rest of the books to understand the world and the main plot.

My Opinion

While you could read this as a stand alone- I wouldn’t. I would have to read it, where it takes place in the series as each book ties into a previous one. There may be spoilers from previous books, #sorrynotsorry, consider yourself warned.

The mages have upped their game, and so must the New York Clan. To do so a task force is formed with Mika at the head. All hands are on deck so Jacob and Marc are called home from Zhobghadi. Not that it was really a home to Marc-he had just recently transferred from a Louisiana clan before being sent to guard Queen DeeDee.

Mika was my second favorite character throughout the spin off (DeeDee being first) so when I realized this one would be about her- I had to jump for joy. She is type A personality with a tad bit of attitude mixed in. Mika had something tragic happen to her a few years ago, which makes her closed off to outsiders. It is totally understandable, yet one can’t help but wonder if it is just a front. I love how she is not afraid to go after what she wants though. Girl has enough guts to initiate that kinda conversation is #goals. Not only that but Mika can go on the defense for just about anyone in a nano second- love how strong she is.  Not sure I would have her strength.

He has had a crappy hand dealt to him.  His upbringing, well lets just say it wasn't the best.  Marc is flirty, full of himself and I know it’s just a front (no wondering here ya’ll). He is well, charming. That is all. Others will say cocky, bold, a little to strong coming on to Mika. Nah, he charmed her butt good! The book goes deeper into his background, and life before transferring to the New York Clan. I gotta say I loved it!  Where the story took us, dang.  Hold on to your hats y'all it's about to get bumpy.

I like their story- True Mates, yes, insta-lust, yes, insta-love no. That my friends makes for a good read. There is action, a common enemy and mystery-who really is trying to kill Mika?  Is it because of her connection to the New York Clan or is it something more?

That ending though! Holy cow! SO much was revealed! So much was left to ask! Is he? Did he? Will he? What the what were all the reactions I had. Which should tell you something since this one did not end on a technical cliff hanger.

My Rating 4 out of five stars
