Hunting for the bad guys has never been so dangerous . . .

My name is Rory Forseti, and I attend the Colorado branch of Mythos Academy, a school of warrior kids, powerful artifacts, and mythological monsters.

I’m a student, a fierce Spartan warrior, and a member of Team Midgard, a group of kids and adults tasked with stopping the evil Reapers of Chaos. There is one Reaper I’m determined to hunt down above all others: Covington, the man who murdered my parents.

So when the Midgard gets a tip that Covington is going to try to steal a dangerous artifact, I’m ready to fight. But the situation is far more complicated than it seems, and the Reapers aren’t my only enemies.

I’ll have to use all my Spartan strength and skills to survive this. And even then, it might be my blood that gets spilled . . .

My Opinion

Spartan Heart is the second book in this spin-off series. Rory is still the champion of the Goddess Sigyn, although due to her parents past she wonders for how long. Rory is officially on Team Midgard. Their ultimate task is to stop Covington, the former librarian at this academy who is the leader for Reapers of Chaos. Apparently, his is looking for some artifacts that have been infused with god/goddess power. Team Midgard is going to try to stop him, before he gains too much power.

After the events of book one, Rory has a support team. She even has friends, those that will stick with her. Zoe is now her best friend and their relationship is one of support and love. Rory really needs that type of friendship after all she has been through. Babs, her ever-loving talking sword, is the best comic relief ever. Rory has always been confident in her fight skills, she is a Spartan after all. Relationships on the other hand have taken a beaten thanks to what her parents put her through. So she is content for admiring Ian from afar for now- hence the romance is a slow burn for sure. They are also in what is essentially a high school, so slow burn is perfect. Ian is equally as awkward with Rory, having been betrayed by one who he admires. Regardless of that each scene that has both of them in it is adorable.

A fast paced action filled adventure that will entertain you from start to finish. Some questions will be answered. Some answers will lead to more questions. Regardless being back in the Mythos world is comforting and amazing. The world building that began in the first series continues to be enriched with the spin-off. I cannot wait to see what Rory and Team Midgard face next.

My Rating 4 out of 5 stars
