Swoon Thurday (44) Deity

The fabulous girls over at YA Bound created this super HOT meme. Here's how it works.

From the book you’re currently reading, or one you just finished, tell us what made you SWOON. What got your heart pounding, your skin tingling, and your stomach fluttering.

Shout it out on Twitter with the hashtag #YABound, post it here in the comments, or grab the adorable button above and share it on your blog! I want to know and so do the gals at YABound!

…brushed his lips over my damp cheek. A soft smile filled his voice. “You’ll have a piece of my heart-all of it, really. Forever. Even if your heart belongs to someone else.”

Deity by Jennifer L Armentrout Kindle Location 3568

“I thought…I thought I’d lost you, Alex, forever. And I would’ve lost everything. You are my everything.”
Deity by Jennifer L Armentrout Kindle Location 3623

The Coventant series is one of my favorite ya series.   The guy that is quoted above is one of my favorite male characters to read about.  I will not disclose who he is for fear that you have not already read the book.  Just know that he rocks of awesomeness.

Sentinel Tour: Deity

Author: Jennifer L. Armentrout
Format: ebook
Print Length: 360 pages
Publisher: Spencer Hill Press
Published: November 6, 2012

"History is on repeat, and things didn't go so well the last time. "

Alexandria isn't sure she's going to make it to her eighteenth birthday--to her Awakening. A long-forgotten, fanatical order is out to kill her, and if the Council ever discovers what she did in the Catskills, she's a goner... and so is Aiden.

If that's not freaky enough, whenever Alex and Seth spend time "training"--which really is just Seth's code word for some up-close and personal one-on-one time--she ends up with another mark of the Apollyon, which brings her one step closer to Awakening ahead of schedule. Awesome.

But as her birthday draws near, her entire world shatters with a startling revelation and she's caught between love and Fate. One will do anything to protect her. One has been lying to her since the beginning. Once the gods have revealed themselves, unleashing their wrath, lives will be irrevocably changed... and destroyed.

Those left standing will discover if love is truly greater than Fate...

My Thoughts

Deity is LEGENDARY! Wow can Armentrout seriously take you through a range of emotion in 5 pages or less. Let’s see shall we- sadness, loneliness, hysteria, shyness, love, belonging and happiness all in one chapter. She is a wizard at creating emotion within the pages. Her stories cause the reader to lose a sense of time, and logic until the book is finished.

Spectacular addition to the Covenant series. Deity starts off right where Pure ended. Seth and Alex are back home and Aiden and Marcus are still in New York. Seth is well as Sethy as he always is. I know there are team Seth folks out there but I still cannot get on board. Even if Alex promises to give a go with Seth in Pure. For several reasons- I am and will always be Team Aiden. Thank all alien babies everywhere for Leon. Oh Leon!

When Aiden returns so does Marcus and Alex’s step-daddy Lucian. I really do not like him- because well he seems so Sethy (new word for shady) to me. Alex receives a letter that her biological father is alive, having been placed on the exiler. She wants to go after him but Aiden makes her promise nothing rash. When is she not rash?

In Pure, Aiden kept his distance from Alex- so much so that many fans switched to Team Seth. I understood his need to be protective of her. It is that need that caused him to put distance between them. I can honestly say that I am so grateful that he comes to his sense in Deity. My favorite scenes have with Aiden and Alex or Aiden, Alex and Leon in them.

I gotta say the one character that surprised the crap out of me is not Leon but Marcus. His reaction in the end towards everything that has gone on just proves that he truly does love his niece. It also proves that he is not the donkey’s behind that many thought he was.

The ending was literally an OMG moment! A punch straight into the gut that will have the readers cured into the fetal position until the next installment.

Favorite quote: Leon, the Kind of Impeccable Timing, glared at me. “You are in need of a professional babysitter.”

My Rating 5 out of 5 stars

Other Characters

Deacon- Aiden’s brother, he rocks

Luke- Alex’s friend, who stands by her even through her bad attitude

Linard- one of Alex’s babysitters

Bren is a cocky, brash hound of a werewolf who loathes the idea of belonging to Aric’s pack—much less finding a mate. Luckily for him, no one can stay mad at Bren and his wild charm for long. And when some frightening ghosts launch a hostile paranormal takeover, Bren will team up with Celia to take down the evil ghouls before they hurt someone they both love…

Includes a preview of the upcoming Weird Girls novel Cursed by Destiny!

This is one of my favorite series, by one of my newly added Go To Authors Cecy Robson. I am very grateful that Kate SeRine promoted this series on her blog- otherwise I would be missing out.

Cover Reveal: Grimm Consequences

You reap what you sow…

Saying Nate Grimm has a dark past is an understatement. Fortunately, no one’s bothered to look too closely at the Fairytale Management Authority’s lead detective and part-time Reaper. And that’s the way Nate wants to keep it. For after centuries of torment and loneliness, he’s finally found happiness with the hot and hard-charging love of his life, Tess “Red” Little.

Of course, his love for Tess is the reason there’s a posse of Reaper judges after him, led by a sadistic bastard acquainted with Nate from once upon a time. Now, Tess will pay the price for Nate’s transgressions unless Nate severs his ties to the transplanted Tales—and Tess—forever. His enemy has the advantage in speed, malice and brutality. But the Reapers have underestimated the depth of Nate’s love and devotion. And the fury of his wrath…

The scent of berries and something musky and good filled me. Holy shit, Strawberry Shortcake just ran me over. I chuckled and slipped my cell into my pocket, about to let her go, but the girl locked up.

He reached out and pulled me to him, one hand on my waist and the other behind my neck.  He tipped my head up and lowered his lips to mine.  I closed my eyes and melted as my whole body was consumed in that kiss.  I was nothing.  I was everything.  Chills ran over my skin, and fire burned inside me.  His body pressed closer to mine, and I wrapped my arms around his neck.  His lips were warmer and softer than anything I could have ever imagined, yet fierce and powerful at the same time!

So this week's swoon is a throwback one.  This was my very first swoon and since I haven't read anything this week I figured a throwback swoon was needed.  Life gets a little busy, especially with a baby and finding a balance is taking some time.    There may be a few more weeks of throwbacks while I learn to balance baby, work, reading and the toddlers.

Waiting on Wednesday (29) Curtsies & Conspiracies

Hey y'all, thanks so much for stopping by my WoW!

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly meme, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine which spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

Does one need four fully grown foxgloves for decorating a dinner table for six guests? Or is it six foxgloves to kill four fully grown guests?

Sophronia's first year at Mademoiselle Geraldine's Finishing Academy for Young Ladies of Quality has certainly been rousing! For one thing, finishing school is training her to be a spy (won't Mumsy be surprised?). Furthermore, Sophronia got mixed up in an intrigue over a stolen device and had a cheese pie thrown at her in a most horrid display of poor manners.

Now, as she sneaks around the dirigible school, eavesdropping on the teachers' quarters and making clandestine climbs to the ship's boiler room, she learns that there may be more to a school trip to London than is apparent at first. A conspiracy is afoot--one with dire implications for both supernaturals and humans. Sophronia must rely on her training to discover who is behind the dangerous plot-and survive the London Season with a full dance card.

In this sequel to bestselling author Gail Carriger's YA debut Etiquette & Espionage, class is back in session with more petticoats and poison, tea trays and treason. Gail's distinctive voice, signature humor, and lush steampunk setting are sure to be the height of fashion this season.

The book in this series was adorable, I can not wait to see what mess Sophronia gets into.

I gave a cry of joy and leaped into his arms again. this time he wasn't expecting it, and I knocked him over into the snow.

"It's entirely possible that you could have caught yourself with your wings," Lough said worriedly as Lisabelle snorted and Sip giggled.

"And miss having my girl on top of me?" Keller asked from where he was resting comfortably in the snowy pile I had dumped him into. "Not on your life."

This made me laugh out loud!  Keller is too smart.

When you can’t trust yourself, who can you believe?

Everything about Anna’s life is a secret. Her father works for the Branch at the helm of its latest project: monitoring and administering treatments to the four genetically altered boys in the lab below their farmhouse. There’s Nick, Cas, Trev . . . and Sam, who’s stolen Anna’s heart. When the Branch decides it’s time to take the boys, Sam stages an escape, killing the agents sent to retrieve them.

Anna is torn between following Sam or staying behind in the safety of her everyday life. But her father pushes her to flee, making Sam promise to keep her away from the Branch, at all costs. There’s just one problem. Sam and the boys don’t remember anything before living in the lab—not even their true identities.

Now on the run, Anna soon discovers that she and Sam are connected in more ways than either of them expected. And if they’re both going to survive, they must piece together the clues of their past before the Branch catches up to them and steals it all away.

Why I fell so hard?
I think it has to do with the shades of gray, blacks and whites. Mixed with the yellow text and this cover just popped at me.

Waiting on Wednesday (28) Sentinel

Hey y'all, thanks so much for stopping by my WoW!

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly meme, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine which spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

It's a beautiful day for a war.

As the mortal world slowly slips into chaos of the godly kind, Alexandria Andros must overcome a stunning defeat that has left her shaken and in doubt of their ability to end this war once and for all.

And with all the obstacles between Alex and her happily-ever-after with the swoonworthy Aiden St. Delphi, they must now trust a deadly foe as they travel deep into the Underworld to release one of the most dangerous gods of all time.

In the stunning, action-packed climax to the bestselling Covenant series, Alex must face a terrible choice: the destruction of everything and everyone she holds dear… or the end of herself.

Is there honestly anyone out there that is a fan of YA novels that is not waiting for this one?
