Why I am waiting?

Seriously, sometimes I have to shake my head at this question. It is the ending to a trilogy- a very good trilogy. One in which the first book, literally was my book of the year in 2012. My top reading choice for the year. I have to see how it ends. What happens to Kami, Jared and the gang? Do they defeat the big baddie or does he defeat them?

My Opinion

I will be honest- I was reluctant to read this one. I felt that the first three books ended perfectly wrapping everything up and so when the series continued I was not really that happy about it. So much so that I put the fourth book down half way through it and decided to wait to read the rest of it and the fifth book until this one was out. The fourth book annoyed me a lot. The fifth book started to bring the butterflies back. The sixth book, this book literally hit things out of the ball park. Talk about coming full circle.

Not only does Cassandra Clare end one series she literally sets the stage for a new one, The Dark Artifices. Emma and Julian are threaded throughout this book and I am extremely excited for their story to unfold in 2015.

Clary and the gang are trying yet again to stop Sebastian this time from creating an army of Endarkened- Shadowhunters with demon blood in them. These are some kick butt fighters with no soul. It takes a while for the grown-ups to realize that you cannot bring back an Endarkened. Once they go to the darkside they have to die, which is hard for the adults to accept as these are their friends, family and in some cases even their spouse or children. Sebastian is not only attacking the Shadowhunters instead he is attacking all Downworlders who are not his allies. Let’s be honest, who really thinks his allies are safe?

People will die, people we have come to trust, love and cheer for. Their deaths will be pointless, and yet I can see how their deaths were meant to be. In war, not everyone will survive. In war, not all loves will survive. In war, anything goes. Sebastian has started a war.

City of Heavenly Fire brings all the feels- giddiness, laughter, tears and shock. Let’s not forget anger and maybe a few bad words directed a character or two. Once you get to the last page, you will be satisfied.

I absolutely adore reading these books to my daughters.  They are by far my favorite picture books to read to them.  They are also the girl's favorite books to have read to them.

My Opinion

A fabulous novella that sets the stage for the rest of the Sin City Collector stories. Although set in the same world each story will be written by a different author. This is a great way to be introduced to new authors while reading some of your ole favorites as well.

The story jumpstarts with Neve and Jake being paired on a job- they are collectors. What is a collector? Well, they are paranormal bounty hunters. Usually collectors work alone- however Neve is a dhampir, a half-human half -vampire. So her boss pairs her with Jake, a hellhound to bring in a vampire. Hellhounds are rare and tough.

Interestingly enough, Neve and Jake have a bit history. Really, a one night stand that went completely wrong. Needless today she blames him, he blames himself and they both try to stay away from each other. Neither is happy about the pairing.

Neve is a tough as nail heroine, who does not take crap from anyone. She is confident in her abilities and does not feel that she needs Jake. Jake is a protective hellhound that will stop at nothing to make amends with Neve.

The big baddie in this one was also interesting. An older vampire that was doing all that he could to get to Neve. Even breaking the law to ensure that she comes after him. Why does he want her? Will Jake fail to protect her, even if she doesn’t want protection?

Aces Wild is a action-packed romantic adventure that will gobble up two to three hours of your time in a blink of an eye. You will not want to put it down. You may want to choke Neve a few times though.

Neve edged closer, melting seamlessly into his body, her tongue entering his mouth again and again like a white-hot flame.  He growled his pleasure and effectively took hold of her hips, twisting her around and bracing her up against the wall.
