He closed his lips into a thin white line and stared, his face filled with sadness. “I miss you so much,” he finished, burying his face in my hair. I held him close. There was nothing I needed to say.

“We don’t have a lot of time, but I want to make one thing very clear. I never left.” He held my gaze with his.  "The sweet smell on the wind, the warmth of the sun on your face, the spark in a friend’s eyes, those are me, telling you I love you.”

In the last installment to this series Elemental Dawn, Keller ticked me off pretty badly.  But in Elemental Fire he did better.  He still has some explaining to do in my opinion but at least he stood by Charlotte.

My name is Beatrice. When I was born, I was blessed with the Sight. I was immediately removed from my parents and enrolled in the Institution. At the age of twelve, I had my first true vision, earning my raven’s wings. And when I turned seventeen, one of my visions came true. Things haven’t been the same since.

The Institution depends on me to keep the City safe from our enemy, the Dreamcatchers, but I’m finding it harder to do while keeping a secret from everyone, including my best friend Gabe. It is a secret that could put us all in danger. A secret that could kill me and everyone close to me.

But the enemy has been coming to me in my dreams, and I think I’m falling in love with him. He says they’re coming. He says they’re angry. And I think I’ve already helped them win.

Why I fell so hard?

The blues, grays and blacks of this cover are striking.  The raven tattoo over her eye makes her vital to her society.  Her future being ordained by birth and the city behind her.  I love that even though she is a seer, her eyes are closed on the cover.

Swoon Thursday (23) Obsession

The fabulous girls over at YA Bound created this super HOT meme. Here's how it works.

Hunter’s lips didn’t touch mine, but it almost felt like they did. I could feel their coolness, and in the back of my mind I wonder how they would feel and taste. And then, his mouth was on mine. His lips were cool and firm.

Sometimes the anticipation of a kiss is better than the kiss itself.  I loved that Hunter made her want to be kissed by him, before he kissed her.

Waiting on Wednesday (9) Midnight Frost

Hey y'all, thanks so much for stopping by my WoW!

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly meme, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine which spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

Here we go again …

Just when it seems life at Mythos Academy can’t get any more dangerous, the Reapers of Chaos manage to prove me wrong. It was just a typical night at the Library of Antiquities — until a Reaper tried to poison me. The good news is I’m still alive and kicking. The bad news is the Reaper poisoned someone else instead.

As Nike’s Champion, everyone expects me to lead the charge against the Reapers, even though I’m still hurting over what happened with Spartan warrior Logan Quinn. I’ve got to get my hands on the antidote fast — otherwise, an innocent person will die. But the only known cure is hidden in some creepy ruins — and the Reapers are sure to be waiting for me there …

Gwen is one of my favorite heroines right now.  She just keeps on keeping on regardless of what the Reapers throw at her.  She is always willing to protect those that she loves.  I am extremely excited about the newest book in the series.

Her mother kissed her on the forehead and made a show of fussing. “My little girl, all grown up and leaving to become a lady!” And that, as they say, was that.

For some reason, these two teasers had me smiling.

A string of suspicious deaths near a small Michigan town ends with a fall that claims the life of Emma Gentry’s boyfriend, Daniel. Emma is broken, a hollow shell mechanically moving through her days. She and Daniel had been made for each other, complete only when they were together. Now she restlessly wanders the town in the late Fall gloom, haunting the cemetary and its white-marbled tombs, feeling Daniel everywhere, his spectre in the moonlight and the fog.

When she encounters newcomer Alex Franks, only son of a renowned widowed surgeon, she’s intrigued despite herself. He’s an enigma, melting into shadows, preferring to keep to himself. But he is as drawn to her as she is to him. He is strangely…familiar. From the way he knows how to open her locker when it sticks, to the nickname she shared only with Daniel, even his hazel eyes with brown flecks are just like Daniel’s. The closer they become, though, the more something inside her screams there’s something very wrong with Alex Franks.

Why I fell so hard?

The red background with the white dress is just plain spooky. The graveyard that she is standing in is chilling. The bird watching out for  Emma upon the gravestone is ominous. The title of the book, written in the actual ate black rod iron is my favorite part. Especially the heart inside the O.

Waiting On Wednesday (8) Blurred

Hey y'all, thanks so much for stopping by my WoW!

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly meme, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine which spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

Cash is haunted by things. Hungry, hollow things. They only leave him alone when Anaya, Heaven’s beautiful reaper, is around. Cash has always been good with girls, but Anaya isn’t like the others. She’s dead. And with his deteriorating health, Cash might soon be as well.

Anaya never breaks the rules, but the night of the fire she recognized part of Cash’s soul—and doomed him to something worse than death. Cash’s soul now resides in an expired body, making him a shadow walker—a rare, coveted being that can walk between worlds. A being creatures of the underworld would do anything to get their hands on.

The lines between life and death are blurring, and Anaya and Cash find themselves falling helplessly over the edge. Trapped in a world where the living don’t belong, can Cash make it out alive?

If you read the first book in the Kissed by Death series than you will understand why I am waiting on this one. Tara Fuller's books are amazing and do not disappoint.

His hand caught my shirt and I closed my eyes. His hand was so close to me. Then it curved inwards and I was pulled closer. His hand touched the base of my neck and spread upward. He cupped my chin and lifted it so I looked in his eyes. He had moved even closer.

Then he whispered as his lips brushed against mine, “I only feel with you.”

Nestled deep in the woods, Shadow Falls is a secret camp where teens with supernatural powers learn to harness their abilities and live in the normal world. But Shadow Falls is facing a problem that could finally expose them to the rest of the world. Humans are showing up dead, and rogue vampires may be to blame.

Camp resident Della Tsang, who’s still coming into her own vampire powers, is assigned to help find those responsible. If she succeeds, maybe she’ll even land her dream job: working for the F.R.U., the enforcers of the supernatural world. But when she sees that her new partner is a hunky shapeshifter, things get complicated. Steve, too gorgeous to be trusted and capable of seeing through her tough-as-nails exterior, knows just how to get under her skin. And only hours into the mission, Della realizes rogue vampires aren’t the only threat she’s facing. If she’s ever going to complete her assignment, she’ll need his help…but learning to trust him will be her hardest challenge yet.

Why I fell so hard?

Have you seen this cover?  It is simply amazing.  Della looking over her hometown.  Della wondering what her family is doing?  Della putting herself in danger.  Steven, the shapeshifter in the air not watching over the town but instead over Della.  With Della having no clue that he is there?  The sun is setting over the town, there is a beautiful haze, just like on a hot June day in Ga.  The purples, blues, yellows and pinks blended together perfectly.

“Well, damn, Sloane.”

I laughed, touching my lips with my finger. They felt swollen, but alive. Tingly. “That was fun,” I managed to say.

James turned and looked over at me. “You know I’m never going to be able to not kiss you again, right? He said. “For the rest of my life, every time I look at you. I’ll have to kiss you.”

James had my tummy doing flipflops with this one. I love that he thinks he will always need to kiss her.
