Welcome to Nocturne Falls, the town where Halloween is celebrated 365 days a year. The tourists think it's all a show: the vampires, the werewolves, the witches, the occasional gargoyle flying through the sky. But the supernaturals populating the town know better. Living in Nocturne Falls means being yourself. Fangs and all.

Getting arrested wasn’t on werewolf Ivy Kincaid’s agenda when she arrived in Nocturne Falls, but her life rarely goes according to plan. The upside of spending the night in the local lock-up is finding a hotel room is no longer a worry...but the downside is the man she’s come to marry will get his first impression of her behind bars. Not exactly the way Ivy was hoping to meet her pack's sworn enemy...aka her fiancĂ©.

Sheriff (and werewolf) Hank Merrow is the alpha's heir. Everything he's ever done, from becoming an Army Ranger to serving in law enforcement, has been in preparation for the day he’ll take over. Getting married to cement a shaky truce is no different. Hank will do his duty, even if it means shackling himself to a woman he has no intention of liking, let alone loving.

But Ivy is nothing like Hank expected. As feisty as she is beautiful, she's as determined as he is to make a go of marriage for the sake of peace between their packs. The trouble is, Ivy has secrets that could destroy everything Hank holds dear...including his newfound love for her.

My Opinion

**This is the second book in the series; it can be read out of order as each story is stand alone.**

It was nice to return to Nocturne Falls, where the supers can hang out like regular people. The humans can hang out like supers. Everyone just gets a long, granted the humans have no clue that they are surrounded by people that go bump in the night.

Ivy and Hank are in rival packs with both of them children of alpha’s. As such they know that they may have an arranged marriage one day. When the Merrow pack ends up owing the Kincaid pack a favor it is called in, they must marry one of their son to Kincaid’s daughter. How does Hank meet his new fiancĂ©? Well, in jail but it totally was worth it (trust me on this one, I would have ended up in jail too).

Ivy’s family are a bunch as jerks. A harsher word than jerk probably needs to be said here. She needs to get out and this is her way out. You know that saying better the devil you know? Well, in this case it does not apply. Anyone has to be better than her daddy dearest. The secret she is keeping is not a bad one and in her position, I get why she is keeping it. I puffy heart adore Hank’s reaction to the secret and his quick action.

Hank, wow what a sweet alpha male. Yeah, I said it… he is an alpha wolf and he is still sweet. Most tend to be rude or pricks but not Hank. His entire family is just pretty awesome. They rally together for the good of the family and family/pack always comes first.

This is a sweet romance story, with a bit of paranormal in the mix. The paranormal is just a sprinkling though so if you were expecting more on that side of things you will be miss out. If you believe that there could be mated pairs out there than the quickness of their relationship will not bother you. Granted they had to marry within three days so it had to be a bit quick.

Coming back to Nocturne Falls is like coming home. The story was quick, cute and fun. The characters sweet with a bit of spice added to it. Overall, a good read on a summer day where the sun is trapped behind rain clouds.

My Rating 3 out of 5 stars
