"You will need to come to terms with something, Samantha Merrick. This is no longer his body. It belongs to me." A slow smile spread across Jax's lips. One that would have normally turned me to pudding. The demon leaned in and brought his face inches from mine. "I am more than willing to allow you to use it, however."

Released Kindle Location 246

Dang Azirak can be down right funny. Hopefully Jax will get control of his body soon. Not sure how much longer Sam can deal with this.

Cover Reveal: Dear Heart I Hate You

Synopsis:
JULES I didn’t plan on him....

 Or for him.

Or anything that had to do with Cal Donovan from Boston.

Meeting him had been a complete and utter surprise, taking me one hundred percent off guard. I met new people every single day in my line of work and none of them affected me. Wasn’t that the way of things though? You could meet a thousand people and they’d all mean nothing to you, but then you’d meet that one and they suddenly meant everything. I had always been focused on work. When did making yourself your number one priority become such a negative thing? I wasn’t entirely sure, but I learned fairly quickly after my last breakup that men didn’t like being second on the priority scale. And they seemed to be intimidated by a motivated woman, calling me things like “hard to handle,” “challenging,” and “difficult.”

Being single seemed to work best for me and I had no plans on changing my relationship status anytime soon.

 And then I met Cal.

 And he fucking ruined everything.

WebJenHat3  ABOUT J. STERLING:
I got fired from my last job. It's true. I know you're sitting there thinking, "Jenn, how could anyone in their right mind fire someone like you?" And I'd love to give you a good reason, but the truth is that sometimes being all sorts of awesome isn't fun for other people. They don't always tend to like it. lol :) So I picked my pride off the floor, bought a laptop and started writing my first book. And you know what I realized? Writing stories that meant something to me was a million times better than working my ass off for someone who didn't really care about anything other than the bottom line. My soul has never felt more satisfied. My heart has never been more full. I've never worked so hard in my life, but I love every second of it. I truly do. It is SO worth it. All of it. Every moment. The journey it took to get to this point- I wouldn't change a thing. So thank you for reading, loving and recommending the stories I write to other people. Your word of mouth is my very best friend.... that and your reviews. :) I sincerely appreciate each and every one of you.

Review: Never Never

Author Colleen Hoover
Format e-book
Print Length 92 pages
Publisher self
Published Jan. 19, 2016

New York Times bestselling authors Colleen Hoover and Tarryn Fisher are back with the much-anticipated final installment in the Never Never novella series.
Together, Silas Nash and Charlize Wynwood must look deeper into the past to find out who they were and who they want to be. With time ticking down, the couple are in a race to find the answers they need before they lose everything. Can they regain what they once had? And will it restore who they once were?

My Opinion

Hmmmm…. You see, I PUFFY HEART LOVED part one. As in biting my nails wondering what is going to happen to these two. Part two pretty much got an ummm okay. To go from puffy heart to umm is a bit of a downer but I thought wait there is still one more part for me to read. Maybe it picks back up like a rollercoaster. Except after reading part three, I felt like the rollercoaster got derailed.

Silas, I adored him. There was a moment in part one where I was like hey wait a minute. After that got resolved I was all about shipping him. Charlize well, she grows on you. She has no clue what is going on and so that has to be nerve wrecking. She faces it head on though, not afraid of anything. She just knows that she has to figure it all out. This is pretty awesome.

I think the major problem I have with part three is that it ends with questions. Which doesn’t sit well with me. I am sure that there are others out there that loved this part. I just I wanted answers and I didn’t get them. Not completely, not one hundred percent. I guess the endless possibilities for the direction of the book threw me off of enjoying it as much as I should have.  I think also the amount of wait in between each part was a bit long.  It caused added excitement and build up for the ending, which just was lacking for me.

My Rating 3 out of 5 stars

The last thing she needs to worry about is falling for the new guy in town—Logan Schmidt.

Cara is drawn to Logan in a way she can’t explain, but she’s not exactly complaining. Everything is perfect…except it’s not. Once she’s reborn, she’ll forget Logan. Review: Romancing the Nerd

Author Leah Rae Miller
Format e-ARC
Print Length 352 pages
Publisher Entangled: Teen
Published April 5, 2016

Dan Garrett has become exactly what he hates—popular. Until recently, he was just another live-action role-playing (LARP) geek on the lowest run of the social ladder. Cue a massive growth spurt and an uncanny skill at taking three-point shots in basketball and voila…Mr. Popular. It’s definitely weird.
And the biggest drawback? Going from high school zero to basketball hero cost Dan the secret girl-of-his-dorky dreams.

A tuba-playing nerd with an eclectic fashion sense, Zelda Potts’s “Coolness” stat is about minus forty-two. Dan turning his back on her and the rest of nerd-dom was brutal enough, but when he humiliates her at school, Zelda decides it’s time for a little revenge—dork style. Nevermind that she used to have a crush on him. Nevermind that her plan could backfire big time.
It’s time to roll the dice…and hope like freakin’ hell she doesn’t lose her heart in the process.

My Opinion

They started off as friends. Good friends, the kinda friends that can just be themselves. Then one of the well grew taller and tried their hand at basketball, as a way to bond with his dad. He was actually good at it. They were still friends, he was going to introduce her to LARPing. Then he made the basketball team, and was invited to a party. He ditched her- for the popular kids. This is followed by a series of unfortunate accidents, accidents that made her hate him. Yet, he can’t help but wonder…what if? Zelda is done wondering now she wants revenge.

Romancing the Nerd is one of the few contemporary romantic comedies that I couldn’t put down. It is absolutely hilarious. Or it will be absolutely hilarious to all the nerds out there that get the references.

Zelda is a strong girl who knows her worth. Dan is a guy who is unsure of his choices. When they are together it is explosively funny. The attraction is off the charts, so is the hatred. Zelda’s plan for revenge is sure to backfire- even her friend’s sister thinks it will. Yet she goes through with it. Dan has no clue how to make up his mistakes to Zelda- yet he tries. I hate that he has to give up what he loves to bond with his dad. I am glad that Zelda gives him the confidence to stand up to his dad like he does to everyone else. Basketball is not his life, and even though he is good at it the cost is too high.

He misses Zelda, misses LARPing, misses his friends. The popular guys grate on his nerves. To make it worse, he even tells them that they grate on his nerves. They take it in stride. What does he have to do to get them to leave him alone? Many kids would kill to be where Dan is, he would kill to be in the comic store. He is intelligent, athletic, and a jerk- yep everything a girl wants. The thing is the only person he doesn’t try to be a jerk with is Zelda and yet he comes off as one time and time again. Poor Dan.

Romancing the Nerd is a book that you will accidently finish in one sitting. Yeah, it is that good. At times you will relate to Zelda, at times to Dan. Mostly, you will be like Maddie- trying to make popcorn to watch the fireworks.

My Rating 5 out of 5 stars

Book Trailer Saturday (11) Tell the Wind and Fire

Some people believe you can fall in love at first sight. When it comes to books I believe those people. Book trailers are an excellent way to fall in love at first sight. I hope to feature a book trailer here every Saturday to help you fall in love at first sight...

Tell the Wind & Fire is about a young girl called Lucie who lives in
a New York very different from the New York we know: the city is torn between two very different kinds of magic, and Lucie’s own family was torn apart years ago by that conflict. Lucie wears magic rings and carries a burden of guilt she can’t share with anyone.

The light in her life is her sweetheart boyfriend Ethan, but it turns out Ethan has a secret too: a soulless doppelganger created by dark magic, who has to conceal the face identical to Ethan’s with a hood fastened by a collar nobody but a Light magician with magical rings can take off… and who introduces himself to both of them by, for reasons nobody can understand, saving Ethan’s life…

Review: Fire

Author L. B. Gilbert
Format e-ARC
Print Length 327 pages
Publisher self
Published Oct 24, 2015

Invested with the powers of Mother Nature, four women have been charged with the almost impossible task of maintaining order in the supernatural world and—when the crimes are extreme—the human world as well.

Diana, a fire Elemental, is almost burned out. Alone in the world (save for her Elemental sisters), she takes satisfaction in punishing those who’ve strayed so far into the black they’ve disrupted the balance. But her contentment is increasingly short-lived as she struggles with the limitations of her ability. An Elemental can track murderers to the ends of the earth, but not before it’s too late for their victims.

So when a child from a previous case goes missing, Diana is determined to find her. The only problem is, she may have to take on an entire coven of vampires to do it.

My Opinion

Fire is an excellent start to a new series, The Elementals.

No one was there to protect Diana when she was younger- so when she got called to be the next Fire elemental it was a no brainer. Protecting the world- supernatural and human- with her “sisters” is a job she takes seriously. It use to bring her contentment, bring justice to those who deserve it. Lately she is restless, though. Something is off, and she isn’t sure what it is. Thank goodness she got a new case- in a neighborhood where she can stop and visit a child that she saved. She did after all promise to check in on her. The check in doesn’t go so well- the girl and her mother are now missing.

Alec is different from other vampires-stronger, younger, more educated. He is called home to his coven when a boy of one of his employees’ goes missing. While he is investigating, Diana shows up at his parent’s house. He recognizes her for what she is- the Fire Elemental right away. He offers to help her find the missing girl sensing that the children are somehow connected.

Since this is the first book in this series there is a lot of world building. I loved it, every bit. From how the elementals stay in touch, the relationships of each of the supernaturals with each other, to how her power works. This is a world that will suck you in and leave you wanting more.

Diana is a loner by heart. She learned at an early age not to trust well anyone. It has taken her 10 years to trust her sisters. It was fun to see her learn to trust Alec. I adore her I got this attitude. She doesn’t second guess herself. Sometimes you just need a strong, independent woman- and you got one in Diana.

Alec is well eccentric for his kind. He doesn’t spend his time partying and wasting an eternity away like the majority vamps. Instead he does research, any and all. He has studied black magic (it is evil, don’t do it), day walking (very few vamps can do it), even elementals. His parents nag him to settle down, he gets put into supernatural papers as one of the most eligible bachelors- yet he doesn’t want to. Instead he is content with his books until Diana comes around. Watching him woo her is pretty sweet. His has total swag.

My only complaint- very little swoon worthy moments. While I understand the need, the trust issues, I wish there were more. The main characters dance around the attraction issue for a large portion of the book. While the tension was good- I can’t help but wonder if it would have been better had they gotten together sooner.

This is a great start to a new series. I can only hope that Air will be just as good or better.

My Rating 4 out of 5 stars

Swoon Thursday (10) Romancing The Nerd

The fabulous girls over at YA Bound created this super HOT meme. Here's how it works.

From the book you’re currently reading, or one you just finished, tell us what made you SWOON. What got your heart pounding, your skin tingling, and your stomach fluttering.

Shout it out on Twitter with the hashtag #YABound, post it here in the comments, or grab the adorable button above and share it on your blog! I want to know & so do the gals at YABound.

I've had a little bit of experience with making out, but it was never like this. Those other times feel tiny and insignificant compared to this. There's electricity and heat and a need to never not be doing this. And amidst all the newness and fire, there's also a feeling of rightness and cool comfort. Like this is where I'm meant to be. She's where I'm meant to be.
