He is cautious of ruining what they have.

When his mouth first meets mine, it's hesitant, questioning. But as I move my lips with his, he quickly grows bolder, coaxing them apart.

Desire, pure and raw, electrifies my veins as his tongue sweeps my mouth.

He is protective.

Strong arms wrap around my waist, and I jump. I twist in the embrace and look up into Brandon's lifesaving green eyes. He glances around, notices the audience, and kisses the tip of my nose. "Miss me?"

"You have no idea." Taking a deep breath, I collapse against hist hard chest.

Brandon tenses, and he lifts my chin. "Is something wrong?" He looks around again. "Did somebody mess with you?"

He talks to himself.

What do I want? To go back into time and stop your stupid makeover. To stop the urge to put Polo-Boy's head through a wall. To stop fantasizing about scooping you up, dragging you back to my truck, and kissing you until you can't see straight.

Brandon is by far one of my favorite book boyfriends.  He tries so hard not to ruin what he has with Aly that he doesn't see what they can be.  He wants to protect her even from herself.  He really is perfect.

Why I am waiting?

This one seems like a fun read- Gods, Goddess and war.  What is not to like?  Plus, I really like the cover for this one.

He has a wonderful sense of humor.

"I'm a little reassured," Jared told her. He laughed, a slow, wonderful sound, warm as the line of his body against hers. "But mostly appalled. I had no idea of the massive age range my competition apparently fits into. Anyone from the age of thirteen to a hundred?"

He knows that asking is sexy.

Jared kissed the hollow at the base of her throat, lips lingering on the spot. One of his hands left the left the mattress for the first time, to pull the side of her ruffled collar slightly open. He kissed the exposed skin and glanced up at her, a quick nervous glance through his sun-dusted lashes.

"Kami," he murmured, and his voice scraped in his throat. "Can I?"

Boy can he make a declaration.

There is one thing I thought you knew, and if you don't I have to tell you. I am utterly in love with you. I've been in love with you my whole life. I've been in love with you your whole life. I don't know how to live without being in love with you, and I don't want to know.

Jared is not the guy that most people shipped in this series.  But he had me at hello- he was the outcast, the one no one wanted.  Yet boy when he looks at Kami and smiles even my ole heart melted.

This is a bittersweet swoon.  I have made it very clear that I am a Steve fan- have been since the original Shadow Falls series. While what he says to here is swoon worthy, I so wanted Della to kick his butt for what he was doing to them. I understand why, but a large part of me wanted to shake him really bad- or get Miranda to curse him.

I rose on my tiptoes to kiss him just as he pulled me up against his chest. Our lips were winter-cold, vampire-cold. The kiss burned through everything: battle, exams, fathers waiting in a plume of truck exhaust. It was Nicholas's tongue touching mine, his hand curling into loops of my jeans, my fingers sketching the muscles of his back through his shirt.

The Drake Chronicles is one of my all time favorite series. I was totally stoked that she released this novella. Having no clue what to expect but knowing I would love it- I gobbled it up in one sitting. Oh to be back with Nicholas and Lucy.

He is a worrier.

“You were just worried about me." 

An exhale, relieved that I had understood. "Yeah"

I turned. "Because you think I'm worth it"

He put his fingers under my chin. "I absolutely think your worth it."

"But you don't think you are."

His mouth opened. Shut.

"That's what this is about, Derek. You won't let us worry about you because you don't think you're worth it. But I do. I absolutely do.” 

He knows the right things to say.

"So," I said. "Seems you're going to be stuck with me for a while."

He smiled. A real smile that lit up his whole face.

"Good," he said. 

He pulled me against him. Then he bent down, breath warming my lips. My pulse was racing so fast I could barely breathe. I was sure he'd stop again and I tensed, waiting for that hesitation, stomach twisting. His lips touched mine, and still I kept waiting for him to pull back.

His lips pressed against mine, then parted. And he kissed me. Really kissed me- arms tightening around me, mouth moving against mine, firm, like he'd made up his mind that this was what he wanted and he wasn't backing down again. 

I slid my arms around his neck. His tightened around me and he scooped me up, lifting me off his feet, kissing me like he was never going to stop, and I kissed him back the same way, like I didn't want him to ever stop.

He knows how to get a gal to do what he wants.

He nodded and swiveled back to the computer, making room for me. When I inched closer, not wanting to intrude, he tugged me in front of him and I stumbled, half falling onto his lap. I tried to scramble up, cheeks burning, but he pulled me down onto his knee, one arm going around my waist, tentative, as if to say Is this okay? It was, even if my blood pounded in my ears so hard I couldn't think.”

Derek is not the would that you would expect the girl to want.  His brother on the other hand is swoony- so why does he get the job of book boyfriend?  Just cause someone is a smooth talker does not mean that they should always get the girl.

Stuck in a Good Book Giveaway

Sometimes a book is so good that you get stuck in it.  Nothing else matter- not the dishes, certainly not the laundry, you accidentally tune out all other noise and you continue to read.  These are the best books, the ones that you get stuck in.  The books that compel you to continue past your bedtime, you may forget to eat, you hold off going to the bathroom.  Just one more chapter, one more paragraph, one more sentence and before you know it all 300 to 400 pages are done and you walk away with a smile on your face.  Being stuck in a good book is a great way to escape reality, my favorite way to well getaway.

He drops my hands, and I hover between relief and disappointment, but not for very long, because then he lifts his hands until he is cupping my head in them, his fingers in my hair and along the back of my neck, rubbing into the skin behind my ear and shivering at my jawline. "Or a century," he murmurs. "Depending on the time you're keeping." I stop thinking, and then he kisses me.
