He peeked at me from the corner of his eye. "You're welcome." Then he closed his eyes and let the sun shine on his face.

He wasn't a man of many words.

Godric grunted, jealous heat in his narrowed gaze. The muscles in his jaw clenched. He hissed in absolute possession, "She's mine, Wolfe."

My mouth bobbed in surprise.

Trigger Kindle Location 1650

The fact that Godric felt the need to say this to his best friend is more than enough proof that he likes her. This book... Poppy and how fiercely independent she is. Godric and how extremely alpha he is. I needed this book and it came at the right time. My only sadness is the next one is not out until June.

Waiting on Wednesday (12) The Adjustment

Hey y'all, thanks so much for stopping by my WoW!

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly meme, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine which spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

How do you go back to a life you can’t remember? Find out in this follow up to the New York Times bestselling The Program and The Treatment.

Tatum Masterson never went through The Program. She never had her memory stripped, never had to fight to remain herself. But when Weston, her longtime boyfriend and love of her life, was taken by handlers, she hoped he’d remember her somehow—that their love would be strong enough.

It wasn’t.

Like all returners, Weston came back a blank canvas. The years he and Tatum spent together were forgotten, as well as the week when he mysteriously disappeared before The Program came for him.

Regardless of his memory loss, Tatum fights to get Weston to remember her. And just as they start to build a new love, they hear about the Adjustment—a new therapy that implants memories from a donor. Despite the risks, Tatum and Weston agree to go through the process. Tatum donates her memories from their time together.

But the problem with memories is that they are all a matter of perspective. So although Weston can now remember dating Tatum, his emotions don’t match the experiences. And this discrepancy is slowly starting to unravel him, worse than anything The Program could have done.

And as the truth of their life together becomes clear, Tatum will have to decide if she loves Weston enough to let him go, or to continue to live the lie they’d build together.

Prepare for your Adjustment.

Why am I waiting?

Trying to have an emotional bond with someone who is missing those emotions but has the memories. How is this one going to play out?

“I mean to say, really, I am near to developing a neurosis - is there anyone around who doesn't want to study or kill me?"

Floote raised a tentative hand.

"Ah, yes, thank you, Floote."

"There is also Mrs Tunstell, madam," he offered hopefully, is if Ivy were some kind of consolation prize.

"I notice you don't mention my fair-weather husband."

"I suspect, at this moment, madam, he probably wants to kill you."

Alexia couldn't help smiling. "Good point.”

I adore Floote and Alexia's relationship- reminds me of Bruce Wayne and Alfred Pennyworth.

Review: Fanning the Flames

Author Chris Cannon
Format e-ARC
Print Length 323 pages
Publisher Entangled: Teen
Published March 6, 2017

Bryn McKenna has it all. Even though she’s a hybrid dragon, she’s finally fitting in the new shape-shifting dragon world that’s become her own. But her grandparent’s want to ruin everything by making Bryn’s nightmare of an arranged marriage to Jaxon Westgate a reality. It doesn’t help that Jaxon’s father is on a witch hunt for Rebel sympathizers and Bryn finds herself in his line of fire.

If she doesn’t say “I do,” she’ll lose everything. Good-bye flying. Good-bye best friends. Good-bye magic. But if she bends to her grandparents’ will and agrees to marry Jaxon she’ll lose the love of her life—her knight.

My Opinion

Directorate has decided to use the knight/dragon bond to search for weapons that can help them with the Rebels. They also have decided that others need to have a knight of their own (although they want same gender pairings- saves on the heartache). One more thing they have decided, that the marriage between Jaxon and Bryn should become a real thing. Only Bryn’s heart and Jaxon’s already belong to other people.

What girl wouldn’t fall for a knight in shining armor? Bryn had no choice but to fall for her knight, Valmont, but their relationship comes with a lot of sacrifices. Many on his part, which is unfair to both him and his family, as he left them to make sure that Bryn is safe. I personally hate their relationship, I liked the first guy that she was dating Zavien, and am totally bummed that he disappeared and is nowhere to be found. So as I was reading, I kept hoping that one or the other of these two would come to their senses and decide yeah this is too much.

The search for weapons and using the knight bond was an extra bonus. I love how they figure this out and all the mystery surrounding it. There is one weapon that is completely messed up. But I wonder how the Directorate is going to use them. I also wonder when they are doing to realize that they are treating their librarian like a moron, and she is the only one with a clue.

Overall, Fanning the Flames is a good continuation of Bryn’s learning curve in all things dragon related. The best thing is that you get to see Bryn’s growth over the series. Several things a revealed, and the last battle was an emotional one. I felt so bad for one of our major characters.

My Rating
4 out of 5 stars

Book Trailer Saturday (11) Wayfarer

Some people believe you can fall in love at first sight. When it comes to books I believe those people. Book trailers are an excellent way to fall in love at first sight. I hope to feature a book trailer here every Saturday to help you fall in love at first sight...

All Etta Spencer wanted was to make her violin debut when she was thrust into a treacherous world where the struggle for power could alter history. After losing the one thing that would have allowed her to protect the Timeline, and the one person worth fighting for, Etta awakens alone in an unknown place and time, exposed to the threat of the two groups who would rather see her dead than succeed. When help arrives, it comes from the last person Etta ever expected—Julian Ironwood, the Grand Master’s heir who has long been presumed dead, and whose dangerous alliance with a man from Etta’s past could put them both at risk.

Meanwhile, Nicholas and Sophia are racing through time in order to locate Etta and the missing astrolabe with Ironwood travelers hot on their trail. They cross paths with a mercenary-for-hire, a cheeky girl named Li Min who quickly develops a flirtation with Sophia. But as the three of them attempt to evade their pursuers, Nicholas soon realizes that one of his companions may have ulterior motives.

As Etta and Nicholas fight to make their way back to one another, from Imperial Russia to the Vatican catacombs, time is rapidly shifting and changing into something unrecognizable… and might just run out on both of them.

He nuzzled in at her neck kissing and licking her softly just below her ear. “Just a moment ” he said. “I need a small reminder that you are here you are whole and you are mine.”

Alexia sure does like to live on the edge, and in this book I do mean literally. Foul things are afoot and she has to figure it out. It is a good thing that she drives her husband mad with worry as she does it. Healthy to remind him every now and again that she is mortal since he is not.

Waiting on Wednesday (11) Given to the Sea

Hey y'all, thanks so much for stopping by my WoW!

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly meme, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine which spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

Khosa is Given to the Sea, a girl born to be fed to the water, her flesh preventing a wave like the one that destroyed the Kingdom of Stille in days of old. But before she’s allowed to dance – an uncontrollable twitching of the limbs that will carry her to the shore in a frenzy – she must produce an heir. Yet the thought of human touch sends shudders down her spine that not even the sound of the tide can match.

Vincent is third in line to inherit his throne, royalty in a kingdom where the old linger and the young inherit only boredom. When Khosa arrives without an heir he knows his father will ensure she fulfills her duty, at whatever cost. Torn between protecting the throne he will someday fill, and the girl whose fate is tied to its very existence, Vincent’s loyalty is at odds with his heart.

Dara and Donil are the last of the Indiri, a native race whose dwindling magic grows weaker as the island country fades. Animals cease to bear young, creatures of the sea take to the land, and the Pietra – fierce fighters who destroyed the Indiri a generation before – are now marching from their stony shores for the twin’s adopted homeland, Stille.

Witt leads the Pietra, their army the only family he has ever known. The stone shores harbor a secret, a growing threat that will envelop the entire land – and he will conquer every speck of soil to ensure the survival of his people.

The tides are turning in Stille, where royals scheme, Pietrans march, and the rising sea calls for its Given

Why am I waiting?

A girl who can’t even think about a someone touching without it freaking her out. A boy who may love her, a society who could be fading. This one just sounds too good to pass up.

Lucky Leprechaun Giveaway Hop!

St. Patrick's Day is one of my favorite holidays.  I am not really sure why, maybe it is the parades or the family time that comes with the holiday.  It's a fun holiday where you get to eat corn beef and potatos, drink green drinks and in general just have fun.  There is just something in the air, that makes the whole holiday magical.  It helps that I got engaged on St. Patrick's Day ten years ago, so I kinda see it as a lucky day.

Here is my gift to you dear readers, a $15 Amazon giftcard.

I can't let myself remember my life before I lived on the streets. Because remembering will make Wilson happy and when Wilson is happy, bad things happen.

Correction: I appear when bad things happen. Doesn't mean I cause them. Well, not always.

Book Trailer Saturday (10) Queen of Hearts

Some people believe you can fall in love at first sight. When it comes to books I believe those people. Book trailers are an excellent way to fall in love at first sight. I hope to feature a book trailer here every Saturday to help you fall in love at first sight...

Only queens with hearts can bleed.

This is not the story of the Wonderland we know. Alice has not fallen down a rabbit hole. There is no all-knowing cat with a taunting smile. This is a Wonderland where beneath each smile lies a secret, each tart comes with a demand, and only prisoners tell the truth.

Dinah is the princess who will one day reign over Wonderland. She has not yet seen the dark depths of her kingdom; she longs only for her father’s approval and a future with the boy she loves. But when a betrayal breaks her heart and threatens her throne, she is launched into Wonderland’s dangerous political game.

Dinah must stay one step ahead of her cunning enemies or she’ll lose not just the crown but her head.

Evil is brewing in Wonderland and maybe, most frighteningly, in Dinah herself.

This is not a story of happily ever after.

This is the story of the Queen of Hearts.

I look down at my feet to keep from staring into his eyes, and a stray piece of hair falls into my face.

His long fingers brush against my hot cheek as he pushes the wavy strand behind my ear, and his touch hovers for a moment too long near my face. He pulls his hand back as our gazes lock.

But Abel's programming forces him to obey Noemi as his commander, which means he has to help her save Genesis--even though her plan to win the war will kill him.

Together they embark on a daring voyage through the galaxy. Before long, Noemi begins to realize Abel may be more than a machine, and, for his part, Abel's devotion to Noemi is no longer just a matter of programming.

Urban vs Epic

Welcome to Urban vs. Epic Fantasy Week!

Welcome, welcome! If you’re a fantasy lover like we are, you probably run (rather than walk) to your nearest bookstore or fave online bookshop whenever a new YA fantasy novel releases. However, we also know that some of you – including some of our fave Entangled TEEN authors – are a little more discriminating. Rather than read any type of fantasy novel, you might prefer either Urban Fantasy or Epic Fantasy…just like some of our authors.

The Urban vs. Epic Fantasy Week is a chance for readers – like you – and Entangled Teen authors to make their allegiances to either urban or epic fantasy known. You may have kept your preferences a secret until now, but we hope you’ll take the time to confirm your #TeamUrban or #TeamEpic tendencies loud and clear over the course of the week.

Urban vs. Epic Fantasy Week Schedule:

  • Tuesday, February 28th: Team Urban vs. Team Epic Fantasy Twitter Chat @ 9-10 pm EST
  • Wednesday Mar. 1st: Bloggers post a feature with authors who ascribe to #TeamUrban
  • Thursday, Mar. 2nd: Bloggers post a feature with authors on #TeamEpic
  • Friday, Mar. 3rd: Bloggers and authors can write / share related posts, including: why they’re Team Urban or Team Epic, their Top 5/10 Fave Urban or Epic Fantasy Reads, and/or the Top 5 Reasons They Loved _____ (an urban or epic fantasy read)

Did you read the first book in this series? If you didn’t you need to- it is that good. I loved Dark Alliance and cannot wait for this one. It has been on my list for almost a year.
