Cover Reveal: Release

After uniting the shifters and calling in reinforcements, Chase has to face his toughest challenge yet: learning to control his emotions. But as tensions rise and his powers grow, controlling his emotions becomes the least of his problems.
Terrorized by a multi-shifter who is hell-bent on turning him, Chase questions just how far he’s willing to go to stop his father. Meanwhile, Tiki’s virtuous nature has placed him in the middle of Vincent’s past, leaving Chase to oppose a senate of vampires and defend a demon he hates.
Trying to balance his friends, his enemies, and his inner demons, Chase is left searching for answers about the Mark, his destiny, and where he can find the next soul piece. Stopping Riley is his top priority, but as more obstacles arise, he finds himself doubting all the decisions he’s made - especially regarding Rayna.
One thing is for certain: Chase has finally realized that he doesn’t know anything. The light doesn’t always quell the darkness, the monsters don’t always stay in the shadows, and the past doesn’t always stay in the past - sometimes, the demons inside are the hardest to fight.

Swoon Thursday (13)

“I’m thinking about kissing you,” he said, “and touching you.  It’s all I can think about.  It’s why it’s been so hard being around you.”  My heart jumped in my chest, and then sped up erratically.  The thick tension hit a new all-time high.

Character Interview wtih Burnett from Whispers at Moonrise

In one week, Whispers at Moonrise will be released.  I am very excited about it as Shadow Falls is one of my favorite series.  I had the fabulous opportunity to sit down with Agent Burnett to chat for a few minutes.  For a vampire and an FRU agent he is pretty hot!
Burnett- Thank you so much for agreeing to talk to me.  I know that you are extremely busy balancing FRU responsibilities with your camp responsibilities.  So we will just go ahead and jump right into the interview.

You are an agent for the FRU, how does that influence your role at Shadow Falls?

It influences it a lot, but it hasn’t prepared me to deal with the issues there. As an agent, I’ve trained and know how to protect myself and my team. But I don’t have a clue how to deal with teens and their teen problems. Nor do I have a clue how to deal with one redheaded sexy fae who pushes all my buttons.

That said, recently I’ve found my loyalties lie with Shadow Falls. I really hope I can continue to do both. I don’t think the FRU is big bad monster that some people perceive it to be. The fact that I’m keeping some secrets from the FRU eats at me, but I worry that If I don’t the actions of the FRU might not be the best for Kylie Galen.

You have recruited several of the students into doing undercover work for the FRU, does this conflict with your role as an advisor to Shadow Falls?

No, the FRU is what saved me from getting into trouble. It taught me discipline, how to protect myself and how to protect others. I’m very careful of the assignments I send my young agents on. Yes, there is still danger, but the lessons they will learn far outweighs the risk.

What advice concerning relationships would you give Lucas and Derek?

That’s hard one because I know they both are crazy about Kylie. And one of them is going to lose out. Or heck, maybe both. They are young. But I guess I’d tell both of them what a very smart person, named Kylie Galen, told me. Never give up. Love is worth going after, even if you lose, you still know you gave it your all.

You are very protective of Kylie and Holiday, will that protection loosen up a little? Or is it going to get tighter?

How do you not protect someone you love? And if you’ve read Whispers at Moonrise, you know how important both of those girl are becoming to me. Kylie grandfather said that I was like her segregate father. That’s pretty scary because I don’t think I know how to do that. I never knew my father, so I never had an example of how one should be. But if it means being protective and looking out for her, then, yeah, maybe I am.

Where do you see Miranda, Della and Kylie ten years from now?

I just hope they are happy and still a part of my life. Miranda and Kylie I think will be married and have careers. Those two just have seem the type to fall in love and marry young. But Della, I don’t know. It’s gonna take a special guy to be able to live with her. Don’t get me wrong, she’s one special girl, but she has hard headedness down to a science.

Why ruin an amazing affair when he’s leaving after the new year?

Her new Christmas wish: Gunner accepts and loves her for who she really is.

Know More about Red Carpet Series Book 1: Hollywood Ever After (Paperback Giveaway)
She wasn't meant for movie stars, Hollywood or happy endings. And then she met him.

Happy Endings are for fairy tales. Or the movies. Not for real life. At least, not in Claire’s life. Even though she’s starting over, she knows better than to want too much this time. But when she falls, literally, into the strong arms of Hollywood’s ‘it’ boy Josh Wiley, Claire’s in for some surprises. Her plans for rest and relaxation are forgotten as one incredible night with Josh becomes two… And her heart begins to want him as much as her body. Will two kids, one bastard ex-husband, and Josh’s juggernaut career mean the end of their affair? Or can Claire find her happy ending after all?

Sasha is part gypsy. Her passions have always been storytelling, Hollywood, history, and travel. It’s no surprise that her books include a little of each. Her first play, ‘Greek Gods and Goddesses’ was written for her Girl Scout troupe. She’s been writing ever since. She loves getting lost in the worlds and characters she creates; even if she frequently forgets to run the dishwasher or wash socks when she’s doing so. Luckily, her four brilliant children and hero-inspiring hubby are super understanding and supportive.

Cursed

Author: Jennifer L. Arementrout
Format: eBook
Print Length: 288 pages
Publisher: Spencer Hill Press
Published: September 18, 2012
Dying sucks-- and high school senior Ember McWilliams knows firsthand. After a fatal car accident, her gifted little sister brought her back. Now anything Ember touches dies. And that, well, really blows.

Ember operates on a no-touch policy with all living things--including boys. When Hayden Cromwell shows up, quoting Oscar Wilde and claiming her curse is a gift, she thinks he's a crazed cutie. But when he tells her he can help control it, she's more than interested. There's just one catch: Ember has to trust Hayden's adopted father, a man she's sure has sinister reasons for collecting children whose abilities even weird her out.

However, she's willing to do anything to hold her sister's hand again. And hell, she'd also like to be able to kiss Hayden. Who wouldn't? But when Ember learns the accident that turned her into a freak may not have been an accident at all, she's not sure who to trust. Someone wanted her dead, and the closer she gets to the truth, the closer she is to losing not only her heart, but her life. For real this time.

My Thoughts

You can probably tell by now that Jennifer L. Armentrout is one of my favorite authors.  I was ubberly excited about this book.  I downloaded on release day, raced home to start reading it.  The first couple of chapters though just did not suck me in as I thought it would.  Maybe my expectations were too high, or maybe I was getting sick.  I do have a cold now.  But there was something about those first couple of chapters that is preventing me from giving it a 5 out of 5 stars.  Do not get me wrong~ it is a fabulous book, like any that Jennifer writes.  I know that it is a stand-alone book as well.  But if she wanted to she could turn this into a series.  This fan will certainty buy anything she writes.
One minute a popular cheerleader, the next a freak.  The last two years for Ember have been difficult.  She carries around the guilt of her father’s and her own death.  As she is the one who picked the restaurant on that faithful night.  Her mom acts like she is dead and she is the sole provider for her 5 year old sister.
One day in her home town, and the next she wakes up in a different state.  With people telling her what is gonna happen verses asking her.  It’s enough to make a gal kill, and when that gal happens to kill with just a touch- well you really should not have gotten her mad.  Although she does show restraint to the nth degree in regards to those that Hayden call family.  It is this strength in character that attracts Hayden to her.
Hayden is a pretty amazingly awesome guy for someone so…. well damaged.  He does not see Ember as others do- a scarred freak but instead he views her as beautiful.  He however does not stand by her.  This of course upsets me a little.  As he has watched her for about two years from a distance, he should know that she is trust worthy.
Jennifer is a mastermind of strong female characters, just like Ember.  Someone is after her, only one person likes her, and her family is forgetting her.  Yet, she does not give up.  She holds strong and faces life head on.

My Rating 4 out of 5 stars

Other Characters

Olivia- Ember’s 5 year old sister, who has the power of life.  She is typical 5 year old though.
Mr. Theo- teacher at Ember’s school, he knows something is not right due to helping Ember.
Phoebe- One of the kids that stays in the house with Ember.  She is a empathy, has a twin brother.
Parker- Phoebe’s twin, homeschooled- can read minds.
Cromwell- Hayden’s daddy- seems kinda harsh but could be a complete softie, especially where Hayden is involved.

Whispers at Moonrise

Ten Things You’ll Learn from

 Whispers at Moonrise

CC Hunter the Author of the Shadow Falls series has created a fabulous list for her upcoming book!

1.       Kicking your boyfriend’s father’s butt might not be good for the relationship.

2.       Sometimes following your heart means breaking some rules.

3.   Getting trapped in a grave with three dead girls is not a walk in the park.

4.       Your parents breaking up sucks. Your mom having a boyfriend, and kissing him in front of you, sucks BIG TIME.

5.       When your boyfriend says one thing, but does another, what do you believe? His actions or his words?

6.       You can’t always protect the ones you love. Sometimes the only way to protect them is to tell them the truth—even if it hurts.

7.       When you are in love, you usually want to talk a lot more about your boyfriend than your girlfriends care to hear.

8.       You shouldn’t mess with magic if you don’t know what you’re doing. Especially when someone could end up sterile.

9.       Sometimes it is the little choices we make, and not the big ones, that define who we are.

10.   Be careful what you wish for or you might end up turning a bright shade of red in the boys’ bathroom.

Cover Reveal: OPAL

No one is like Daemon Black.

When he set out to prove his feelings for me, he wasn’t fooling around. Doubting him isn’t something I’ll do again, and now that we’ve made it through the rough patches, well... There’s a lot of spontaneous combustion going on.

But even he can’t protect his family from the danger of trying to free those they love.

After everything, I’m no longer the same Katy. I’m different... And I’m not sure what that will mean in the end. When each step we take in discovering the truth puts us in the path of the secret organization responsible for torturing and testing hybrids, the more I realize there is no end to what I’m capable of. The death of someone close still lingers, help comes from the most unlikely source, and friends will become the deadliest of enemies, but we won’t turn back. Even if the outcome will shatter our worlds forever.

Together we’re stronger... and they know it.

Nicholas’ mouth covered mine completely.  He yanked me closer.  His eyes were the misty gray of rain.  His lips moved, briefly.  It wasn’t even a whisper but even that sound under the almost-but-not quite kiss.
“We’re not alone.”
I stiffened.
“Shhh.”  He bent his head.  Anyone watching would have assumed he was kissing me and enjoying it.  I admit, I was enjoying it too.
A shadow moved near the hedges, too quickly to be natural.  The crickets went silent.  Knowing the sharpness of vampire hearing, I darted a glance pointedly over Nicholas’ left shoulder.  He didn’t speak, didn’t even nod, but I knew he understood.  He kept kissing me, his tongue darting out to touch mine.  It was totally distracting.  He was edging me away from the car, guiding me backward, toward the house.
“Don’t run.”  He nipped my lower lip.

Totally breaking the two sentence rule here.  Seriously though, I would break it every time for Nicholas and Lucy.  There is something about how protective he is over her that makes me sigh and think what a great love story, even when they are the secondary characters.  Besides who can resist a kiss used to protect someone.

Stuck in a Good Book Giveaway Hop

Announcing the Stuck in a Good Book Giveaway Hop
September 20th to 25th
Hosted by I Am A Reader, Not A Writer and Valerie from Stuck in Books

Here is your chance to share a book that you just couldn't put down. A book that sucked you and kept you glued to its pages.

On Aug. 13, 2012 Valerie and Kathy announced a blog hop- on in which the blogger got to share a book that they just could not put down.  Immediately, I knew I had to sign up.

Over the summer I had read this lovely vampire series called the Drake Chronicles.  It was amazing- the vampires did not shine or sparkle.  They could not go out in the sun.  They actually well, as soon as the sun began to rise- the younger vamps would pass out.  How amazing is that?  And some of the vampires lived the first 16 years of their lives as humans.  This is how a human, Lucy and a vampire princess, Solagne, become best friends.  Lucy literally grew up with the Drake family.  That is why she is almost immune to their vampy powers.

I absolutely adore Lucy.  Her can do attitude is fabulous.  As is her ability to wait until the crisis is over to cry.  There is very little snarkiness in this series- which is kinda nice for a YA novel.

Seriously though- this is one of the best series I have ever read.  I wanted to share it with my followers.  What better way to do that than a giveaway!

Hearts at Stake

The Drakes are rather different to your usual neighbours. They are vampires and some of the members of the family date back to the twelfth century. One of the children, Solange, is the only born female vampire known and, as such, she poses a direct threat to the vampire queen. Her best friend Lucy is human, and when Solange is kidnapped Lucy and Solange's brother, Nicholas, set out to save her. Lucy soon discovers that she would like to be more than just friends with Nicholas. But how does one go about dating a vampire? Meanwhile, Solange finds an unlikely ally in Kieran, a vampire slayer on the hunt for his father's killer.

Blood Feud

It's been centuries since Isabeau St. Croix barely survived the French Revolution. Now she's made her way back to the living and she must face the ultimate test by confronting the evil British lord who left her for dead the day she turned into a vampire. That's if she can control her affection for Logan Drake, a vampire whose bite is as sweet as the revenge she seeks.
The clans are gathering for Helena's royal coronation as the next vampire queen, and new alliances are beginning to form now that the old rifts of Lady Natasha's reign have started to heal. But with a new common enemy, Leander Montmarte—a vicious leader who hopes to force Solange to marry him and usurp the power of the throne for himself—the clans must stand together to preserve the peace he threatens to destroy.
This second adventure in the Drake Chronicles—told from both Logan's and Isabeau's perspectives—has all the same butt-kicking action, heart-pounding romances and snarky humor that readers loved in Hearts at Stake, as well as exciting new revelations about the vampire dynasties to keep readers coming back for more.

Out for Blood

Hunter Wild is the youngest in a long line of elite vampire hunters, a legacy that is both a blessing and a curse at the secret Helios-Ra Academy, where she excels at just about everything. Thanks to her friendship with Kieran Black, Hunter receives a special invitation to attend the coronation of Helena Drake, and for the first time, she sees the difference between vampires that must be hunted and vampires that can become friends—or even more. When students at the academy fall victim to a mysterious illness, Hunter suspects they are under attack from within. She will need someone she can trust to help her save the future of Helios-Ra . . . help that shockingly comes in the form of Quinn Drake, a drop-dead gorgeous vampire. Who said senior year would be easy?

Okay so I bet you are wondering why on earth there are three teaser up?  Part of it is Valerie's (Stuck in Books) and Kathy's (I Am A Reader, Not A Writer) fault.  She is kicking off a blog hop give away and the book I am give away will be a bind up of these three books.
I just love vampire novels.  Especially vampire novels where the vamp can not go out in the sun for fear of burning into a pile of ash.  Plus, the human Lucy in these books is just hilarious.
